Meteorology is just one of the research areas conducted at the Antarctic base. The unique location 3200 m on a plateau at the end of the world offers researchers from many disciplines a chance to conduct science they like nowhere else on Earth.
ESA sponsors a research medical doctor each year to study the effects of living in isolation. The extreme cold, isolation, sensory deprivation and remoteness make living in Concordia similar to living on another planet.

At my photography class we've got a theme "Sveglia" or "Wake up." typically my waking up involves my F***ing shower which runs cold for about 10 minutes, I thought this might be a suitable subject.

Most nights threaten frost these days, settled in shivering as thin whitecaps on bare-headed blades of grass. A few well-draped blankets will save what's left of my mother's garden, vegetables that still have a little ripening left in them. I still go out barefoot briefly, because I couldn't be bothered with socks and shoes. The shiver of dry, cool ground is welcoming but warning of the greater cold coming. I'm running out of daylight quicker all the time, but I've always loved the twilight. Won't be long before I'll be chasing the sun every day, one of us will make it to the horizon first. Today, the clouds and the ocean will play with the gloaming all alone. I'm staying home with a thin breeze, and a chill kept out by warm windows.
This was at my little brother's swimming meet, and it lasted really late into the night (6 or 7 i think). and this was at noon. where I live, its really cold and snowy (0 F!), but this picture just looked so warm, and i couldnt help but name it "cold winter waters" :]

So i finally went out on a good windy day to get some neat wave shots. And im glad i finally got some with my new 55-200mm lens! So it was really cold out, but i was in a nice warm car with my mom and opened the window to take the photos and blasted the heat.
It was a lot of fun
P.S i think this picture is a tad crooked...i will fix that.
