Sgt. Bruce Allen, assigned to the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, proceeds to the rally point after completing an airborne training jump at Joint Base Elmendorf–Richardson, Alaska, in January 2018. One of the reasons brass cartridge cases have remained in use for so long is their ability to withstand extreme temperatures, both hot and cold. Ok I have officially got man flu.

Brilliant ! it started on Friday and managed to kick in just in time to mess up the long bank holiday weekend.

The last bad cold I had, developed the day before we left for a two week holiday in Portugal last Summer and lasted the entire holiday - timing!

I have dosed myself up with all the products in the photo and aside from feeling slightly high, I will be back to work on Tuesday as normal.

Don't you just love these products that tell it like it is - KILKOF. It comes in a bottle and with a label that wouldn't look out of place in a D.I.Y. store.

It looks like bitumen, tastes like creosote (don't ask me how I know that) but it does the job.

The cold front has passed through with a period of squally rain and the sun begins to assert itself once more, sunlight blown along in the blustery conditions.

my latest batch of handmade soap using the cold process method- scented with lavender and tea tree essential oils and sprinkled with dried lavender buds. Kick ass soap mold i designed and my hubby made for easy cutting.

taken on my trip back home for christmas driving from edmonton, alberta to altona, manitoba. taken somewhere in saskatchewan. it was approx. -25 when this was taken not considering the windchill which would have made it close to -35 i am guessing. took 5 shots in under two minutes of this place and by that time my fingers had numbed up haha. hand held cause it was just way too cold and i did not want to be out there for very long haha.

Basic concept, make a bar that is really cold, like sub-zero cold, and fill it with surly British expats. Put big white puffy coats on the cute asian girls. Call it Eski Bar.

A nice break from the heat of Singapore, after a half hour in 16 degrees below zero weather, I found the sweltering heat quite refreshing.

Notice the substantial condensation on the window.

Mid february, it was cold in Issan, Well for the Thai,s anyway

Did I mention the DPU? Yes there was even a DPU. Catching this train really made my day.

A large Cold Stone Creamery ice cream outlet on Times Square. The same franchise has opened several outlets in Dubai as well. Frankly, though expensive, and glarmourous, I didn't think too much of the ice cream from Cold Stone which I ate in Dubai: the absence of milk is glaringly obvious, and the ice cream appears rather sticky and gooey, meaning it's not smooth. Our local landmark and geological oddity. Looks like one big sink-hole.

Very cold down in there.

The so-called American Tower stands about a kilometre from Concordia Station in Antarctica and is 40 meters tall. It was built in 2003 by American universities to check satellite data but now houses many scientific instruments.

The thin atmosphere near the South Pole and very few clouds make Concordia a unique place to study Earth’s climate and beyond.

ESA sponsors a medical research doctor at Concordia for different reasons. The harsh climate, isolation and four-month period of darkness in the winter offer similarities to living on another planet. Studying the crew and how they adapt to the stress of living in one of the loneliest places on Earth is preparing ESA for future spaceflight.
