This Snowy Egret is almost reach breeding age. The breeding plumage is well developed but the loral skin is still olive-yellow and not the blueish gray of a breeding adult.

Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord
ist ein etwa 180 Hektar großer Landschaftspark rund um ein stillgelegtes Hüttenwerk in Duisburg-Meiderich, der im Rahmen der Internationalen Bauausstellung Emscher Park entstand.
Das frühere Werk wurde 1901 von der damaligen „Rheinische Stahlwerke zu Meiderich bei Ruhrort“, später eine Tochter der Thyssen-Gruppe, gegründet.
Die insgesamt fünf Hochöfen produzierten in ihren 84 Jahren 37 Millionen Tonnen Spezialroheisen in der Regel als Vorprodukt für die Weiterverarbeitung in den Thyssen Stahlwerken.
Die Hochöfen 3 und 4 wurden bereits 1968 bzw. 1970 abgerissen.
Die Hochöfen 1 und 2 wurden 1982 stillgelegt, so dass nur noch der erst 1973 erbaute Hochofen 5 in Betrieb blieb.
1985 wurde dieser nach gerade mal zwölf Jahren Betriebszeit aufgrund von Überkapazitäten auf dem europäischen Stahlmarkt ebenfalls stillgelegt.

is an approximately 180-hectare landscape park around a disused steelworks in Duisburg-Meiderich, which was created as part of the International Building Exhibition Emscher Park.
The former plant was founded in 1901 by the former "Rheinische Stahlwerke zu Meiderich bei Ruhrort", later a subsidiary of the Thyssen Group.
In their 84 years, the five blast furnaces produced 37 million tons of special raw iron, usually as a precursor for further processing in the Thyssen steelworks.
Blast furnaces 3 and 4 were demolished in 1968 and 1970 respectively.
Blast furnaces 1 and 2 were shut down in 1982, so that only blast furnace 5, which was only built in 1973, remained in operation.
In 1985, after just twelve years of operation, it was also shut down due to overcapacity on the European steel market.
At night, the park is illuminated and asks for an impressive light performance for photographers.

More cold stuff from me! This picture was taken 2 winters ago. Sometimes farmers seem to forget where they left things in summer.

Between the pictures from this summer I thought it would be nice to share an image to mentally cool down. Every photographer has this magical moment once in a while, be it a stunning sunset, a magical glow in the forest or like this one a special encounter with wild life. We were driving through the amazing national park Yellowstone early in the morning through the fog when a herd of buffalo crossed a serieus river in the cold. I was amazed by their courage and rushed out to take some shots. It is a while ago but I believe this one closed the pack. Have a very nice (bit more chilled) weekend and many thanks in advance for your kind visit.
I have photographed this old barn several times. I think it catches my eye because of the iconic rural architecture and the fact that it seems to sit al by itself out in the middle of nowhere. I suspect at one time several other farm buildings surrounded it.
