This was taken on one of those very cold, very windy days we had here in Iowa back in December. Despite hugging the tree this little fellow was having a bad hair day.

I just can't resist photographing the Moon when it's full — especially when it's this stunning. Snapped this handheld last night with my Nikon D780 and the 200-500mm f/5.6 zoom lens paired with a 1.4x teleconverter. The VR did its magic, and the sky was crystal clear. Turns out it was the Cold Supermoon — the biggest and brightest full moon of the year. No tripod, no fuss, just a quiet moment under the stars.
This White-throated sparrow (Zonotrichia albicollis) looks both cold and grumpy with a tiny snow flake on its face. Most of the birds using the backyard feeder spend some time under the eaves on these Rose of Sharon bushes, next to the windows. It's nice when they come to you.
Oh, don't think it's snowing here! We had +12° and a lot of rain today. I was able to walk around at home in a t-shirt and no socks and wait for the rain to stop. Unfortunately, the word for my festive mood isn't in my English dictionary. Can you guess? ;-) I'm more in the Easter egg mood, ha ha ho ho! Unfortunately it's an older photo, sorry!

It was pretty cold in Victoria today. Ok, only around zero Celsius and a bit of wind chill factor but that is very unusual for us to have it that cold. After hours in the cold I thought I was going to loose my fingers and my toes. I have not have a chance to look at all my shots but here is one of a Common Goldeneye who seemed to agree with me that the water was way too cold for its feet.
