I took my HVX200 with me to Palm Desert in order to capture a weekend video using its broadcast quality 1080p DVCProHD (100MBps) codec. Using my laptop, this is how I shot some of the scenes (which will be digitally stabilized later).

They also developed a way to compress the audio onto the now defunct Worldspace satellite system. So what are they up to now? It seems from this interview on the Fraunhofer stand at the recent IBC in Amsterdam that they are putting video and text into low bandwidth audio transmission systems.

I'm selling my first gen Mac Mini since I never use it anymore. It's the original 1.33ghz G4 with 512K memory. I used it as a media center for a long time, but since the XBOX 360 started supporting most codecs, I never use it anymore. Just got new codecs that allow Windows Media Player to open / play .mov and .rm and .ram files . . .

. . . handy because my new camcorder [ HD - 1080p ] only records in .mov format : something I didn't know when I purchased it . . . Thanks QVC !

I took Amancay, who had came up from Hood Rivers, OR for the Seattle Flickr Garage Shoot VII, on a photo excursion / whirlwind tour of Seattle. We had dinner down by the water front at Ivar's, and the seagulls have learned that they could be quite well fed by hanging out around there...

... so I went back to the car to grab the high speed video camera, the flashes and pocket wizards, and the super clamp. Fish for the humans and chips for the seagulls kept us entertained.

Please excuse the fact that these are unedited videos. AVCHD codec encoded videos are proving to be a royal pain in the tailpipe to edit.
