Photograph taken at an altitude of Seven metres at 21:09pm on Friday 19th May 2023 around sunset (Sunset was at 20.59pm), off Qwuc Chus Lane and Patricia Bay Highway 17 on Tsawout First Nation land, East Saanich Indian Reserve No. 2 (a 241 hectares site), on Vancouver Island in British Columbia in Canada.
The Tsawout people are a member of the Sencot'en Alliance and one of five bands of the Saanich Nation, along with Tsartlip, Tseycum, Malahat and Pauquachin. In the 1850s they were signatories to the Douglas Treaties and they speak the SENĆOŦEN language. Nick Claxton was chief until April 2021 when Harvey Underwood was elected as his replacement. In January 2023 there qwer around 1600 inhabitants of which one third were Tsawout First Nations people.

Talked about codec selection today at the meeting. The politics at these meetings drive me insane.
After the meeting I got to take another long walk around the town and found some cool stuff—a neat dance poster, a rad laundromat, and several condom dispensers (?).
And then I ate delicious gnocchi with beef and had an enormous macaron for dessert. Wonderful.
AAC generally achieves better sound quality than MP3 at similar bitrates, while Opus benefits from much lower latency than other formats like MP3 or OGG, but competes favourably for quality at similar bitrates.

The Indian peafowl or peacock (Pavo cristatus) is also known as the common peafowl, and blue peafowl, and is a peafowl species native to the Indian subcontinent. It has been introduced to many other countries.
Male peafowl are referred to as peacocks, and female peafowl are referred to as peahens, although both sexes are often referred to colloquially as a "peacock". A Peacocks length from bill to tail can measure100 to 115 cm (39 to 45 in) and to the end of a fully grown train as much as 195 to 225 cm (77 to 89 in) and weigh 4–6 kg (8.8–13.2 lb). The females, or peahens, are smaller at around 95 cm (37 in) in length and weigh 2.75–4 kg (6.1–8.8 lb).

This video was shot the night of June 26/27 2011, looking west over the hudson river. Photos were taken at 30 second intervals using a nikon d3000, controlled by usb and gphoto2. The lens was a nikon 1.4g af-s, on programed mode. I think the longest exposure reached during the night was 10 seconds, so next time I'm going to see if I can't get it to stop down a little and use a longer exposure.
Shot in raw mode and developed to jpg using dcraw, color balance determined from the exif information of the image.
Encoded using the x264 codec and mencoder. You can see that as morning arrives it really gets the white balance completely wrong.

A small sample of my photos on Flickr. Because of the 150meg and 90 sec restriction i have edited the music down to fit the limit. Normal video rendering i use AVI High quality codec this file is just over 1GB. However this example has been converted to mpeg2, the file size is 52mb.
Approx 10 mins to put this video together. Considering the compressed file size it turned out okay. Certainly a lot better in HD format and on a big screen.
Depending on your Broadband speed you may want to let the video load up first.

Le ministre de l'Équipement et de l'Aménagement du Territoire dans les deux gouvernements de Pierre Messmer, de 1972 à 1974, Olivier Guichard explique les ambitions du programme de construction qui doit atteindre 800 km par ans en 1978. Le reportage nous montre l'intérieur des bureaux d'études qui conçoivent ces autoroute dont la conception est assistée par ordinateurs dont le projet d'ensemble en 3D est visualisé sur un écran. La voix off nous informe sur le financement de ces équipements. Puis on peut voir des images de la construction du pont sur la Seine à Saint Cloud reliant l'autoroute de Normandie au périphérique, de l'échangeur de Palaiseau sur 4 niveau : record d'Europe précise le commentaire. Le reportage nous informe que des sociétés d'économies mixtes ont étés crées pour les tronçons : Paris / Lille, Paris / Marseille, Paris / Normandie. Pour accélérer la construction l’État a eu recours à des concessions privées par exemple pour le tronçon Paris / Chartres. "Les autoroutes changent le visage de la France : artères économiques favorisant le développement industriel elles permettent de revitaliser des régions en perte de vitesse et de l'intégrer dans le mouvement général de l'expansion" Sur le plan européen elles vont combler le retard de la France et réaliser son insertion. Images de l'inauguration de l'autoroute entre Paris et Bruxelles par le président Georges Pompidou. Le reportage rappel que l'autre fonction capitale des autoroute est de favoriser la sécurité. La question de la limitation de vitesse est posée au ministre de l’Équipement, qui n'y est favorable que sur certains tronçons. Un des facteur de sécurité selon le commentaire est l'humanisation des autoroutes : aires de repos, restaurants, signalisation touristiques... This Camcorder took a better shot than my 40D!!!
For the past 2 days I have been testing my new Nikon P1000 camera out in my yard and neighborhood. I am very impressed. You have to haul a 3.5 lb camera and a hefty tripod. I used my Manfrotto 3130 tripod with a fluid head that weighs 8 lbs for telephoto shots. The fluid head facilitates video pans, but even it drifted down while shooting at far out lengths such as 3000 mm indicating a need for counter weights such as sand bags or a heavier duty tripod. You also have to use a remote control for shutter depressions and controlling the camera. I purchased a Nikon ML-L7 remote which did the job very well.
The Coolpix P1000 does not use .nef for raw files. It uses .nrw format. I could not use Adobe PS CS6 to read these files. I started saving files in both raw and jpg formats instead of raw exclusively as I do on my Nikon DLSR camera. I had to download Nikon Capture NX-D which came with Nikon Picture Control and Nikon Transfer 2 which I have not tested yet. I Downloaded and installed a Nikon NRW codec. I could not see NRW files in Photoshop CS6, Adobe Bridge CS6 or View NX V2. But I could see them in Capture NX-D, Windows photos, Win Explorer, Win movie Maker, Photo Gallery and Win Photo Viewer.
It pays to purchase a 77 mm clear filter cover because the possibility of scratching the huge lens looms very high.
The Jpg image size is stored in a 12:9 ratio. My other Nikon cameras are sized in a12:8 ratio. Also many functions are accessed by menu rather than buttons common on Nikon DLSR’s.
I have not tested the bird or moon modes on the P1000 yet, but they look promising on paper.
All in all I am very pleased with the Nikon P1000 and look forward to having a lot of fun with it, especially for birding.
