Proximidad - Prctica artstica y territorios sociales
Con Proximidad nos proponemos mostrar proyectos que vinculan al arte
con los Derechos Humanos, hacer visibles los procesos, caminos
recorridos e interrogantes que viven los artistas que producen piezas
vinculadas a estas temticas. La proximidad es el grado de cercana
entre dos formas y las tensiones existentes entre ellas. Este proyecto
es un acercamiento a los modos de producir y los procesos realizados
en ciertas piezas, haciendo hincapi en los procesos, las tensiones y
cercanas existentes entre las obras convocadas.

Ouka Leele en Buenos Aires
Curada por el crtico de arte Manuel Romero, La utopa transgresora
recoge un conjunto de obras que revelan hechos de la vida de la que
fue en Espaa Premio Nacional de Fotografa 2005. El trabajo que
realiza Ouka Leele derrocha emocin y lirismo, al tiempo que recupera
la memoria familiar y adolescente cargada de nostalgia fetichista. En
el conjunto de obras que figuran en esta exposicin podemos ver una
clara dicotoma entre espiritualidad y carnalidad.

Rdio Digital Mundial e a Comunicao Social no sculo XXI
Durante ms de dos aos, un grupo de investigadores viene
desarrollando un estudio con el objetivo de subsidiar al gobierno
Brasilero, Radiodifusores y oyentes sobre las posibilidades
socio-tecnolgicas que el estndar DRM de radio digital puede
ofrecer para la comunicacin social. Varios documentos fueron
producidos en este periodo, todos publicados en Internet, sealando
la inmensa superioridad tcnica de DRM. Se trata, resumidamente
(carta de lanzamiento), de un estndar abierto, regulado por la ITU,
que funciona en todas las bandas de frecuencia, que poseen el mismo
codec de audio del Sistema Brasilero de TV Digital, optimiza el uso
del espectro, funciona en baja potencia y consume mucho menos
energa. Pensado para ser un estndar de global inters pblico,
el DRM es el favorito de las emisoras educativas y estatales de varios
pases, y de a poco va conquistando nuevos mercados, combinando
desarrollo econmico y social.

Jugada a 3 bandas en Madrid y Barcelona
La internacionalizacin de las propuestas expositivas y la relacin
entre Madrid y Barcelona, principales leitmotivs de la tercera
edicin Ja3b 2013 potencia las actividades en las galeras y en
espacios asociados para fomentar la visita a las exposiciones a lo
largo de sus siete semanas de duracin.
La tercera edicin de Jugada a 3 bandas (Ja3b), proyecto ideado para
conectar galeras de arte + comisarios + artistas, se celebrar de
forma simultnea en Madrid y Barcelona, inaugurando el sbado 6 de
abril en la primera, y una semana despus, el viernes 12 de abril, en
la Ciudad Condal. Un total de 30 galeras participarn en Ja3b 2013,
con propuestas expositivas que tienden puentes y conexiones entre
ambas ciudades, o apuestan por una clara apertura internacional.

A codec (a “coder”) is a procedure for coding and/or decoding data.

Super-cheap, super-crappy USB audio CODEC from DealExtreme. The ADC is single channel 10-bit, 24 kHz. :D
"The TP6911 is an 8-bit micro-controller embedded device tailored to the USB audio and USB Keyboard application. It's able to play two channels PC Audio and record one channel voice through Full-Speed USB bus."
The quality is terrible, as expected. The output volume control is largely useless (loud or very loud), and there is a large 17% DC offset in the input ADC. I bought it in case it could be used as a cheap DC-coupled USB ADC for data logging or whatever, but it's quite crappy.
Just get the DC-coupled CM108/CM109 products which are also pretty cheap but also better.
Now that flickr supports video, I won't have to choose which codecs to use and cut out most of the viewers. Now everyone can see my microscope vids :)

A short clip of Bella looking for her hoop in the long grass. For some reason, she fly's off across the field to look somewhere else then zooms back again to where it is and brings it back.
Taken handheld on my 7D with the Sigma 105mm macro lens at 1080p and reduced down to 720p using the xvid codec.
Listening to music in FLAC format opens up an entire new world. I've been listening to Black Sabbath today with FLAC files. When you couple it with a good set of speakers/headphones the quality of sound improves drastically. The highs, the mids and the lows are distinctly audible and there is absolutely no noise. I cannot imagine how they would sound on a pair of Yamaha speakers running on a Denon amp!!! I'm going to try and get the entire Floyd collection on FLAC...that will be something!!!

Photograph taken at an altitude of Two hundred and thirty nine metres at 15.10pm on Tuesday May 7th 2024 off South Street in Rhayader, Mid-Wales from the Low level professional photography hide at Gigrin Farm feeding station.
This is a rare Leucistic Red Kite (Milvus Milvus), one of only ten currently known in the world. Leucism is caused by a partial loss of pigmentation, resulting in white feathers on a bird.The Red Kite (Milvus Milvus) is a medium sized bird of prey (Raptor) in the Accipitridae family, and was saved from national extinction by a long running protection programme.
It has now been successfully re-introduced into England and Scotland, and Wales, and they are listed under schedule 1 of the Wildlife and Countryside act, currently with a green status. They can reach 66cms in length with up to a 195cms wingspan, and there around 4,600 breeding pairs in the UK in 2024.

Some of the producers from CODECH were gathered for a workshop given by Anacafé on organic methods for prevention of leaf rust, and I took advantage of soliciting their thoughts on the past year before the workshop began.
The members echoed a lot of what was discussed the previous day when I met with the board of directors. As a group, they are enthusiastic about the support for programs focused on gender equality. And, they are working to encourage more members to invest in organic farming practices. Some of their main concerns as a community include food security and access to health, which the cooperative is helping them address.

The Northern tent caterpillar (Malacosoma californicum pluviale) is a native North American insect. It occurs throughout the southern half of British Columbia, extending as far east as Quebec.
In the United States, it is found west of the Cascade Mountains, through Washington and South to Oregon, plus northern Idaho, western Montana and several northeastern states also. It turns eventually into a moth of stout bodied with a wingspan of 25-37 mm and a one year lifespan.

The AJA Ki-Pro digital video recorder was my favorite product of NAB 2009. This is one cool device. A field recorder that records to an AJA storage module (HDD or SSD) and/or Express34 memory cards. The interesting part is that it records natively to Apple's ProRes codec, which means that these very high quality files can be used instantly in Final Cut Pro, without Log and Transfer or digitizing. It also functions as a converter box: takes anything in and spits anything out. I like it mostly because of it's versatility. You can use it as a primary recorder, as a redundant recorder, as a format translator (up/down/cross-conversions) and as a way of extending the relevance of older analog camera gear. The ProRes422 and ProRes422 HQ formats are wonderful, which you would expect at 220 Mb/s (for 422 HQ). I especially like the built-in WiFi and Ethernet so that the user can control the unit via a web-browser, iPad, or iPhone. It's rugged and well suited for the hostile world of field production.

MGS:GB is a Nintendo Game Boy Color title that falls somewhere between MGS and MGS2 on the timeline, but in an alternate universe. It remains my favorite game project by the virtue of the radio drama ("Codec Entertainment Program") that was conceived as a bonus feature. I've never been able to establish why this excellent faux-60's parody didn't garner more attention. It's easily the only decent piece of writing in the Metal Gear franchise.
Forget government-disavowed ex-commandos: Novelty inventions are the real enemy. Clearly and mercifully, somebody on the MGS writing team got their hands on a decent indica while this one was being written. The main storyline is more-o'-the-same, but the "IdeaSpy 2.5" serial radio program that can be tuned into for Snake's sneaking pleasure is actually funny and provided hours of pastiche-making fun for this translator. The adventures of Agent Two-point-five and his heroic crusade against J.E. Inc., "The Catalog of Conspiracies" is one localization job I will never disavow, mostly because no one at the client end bothered to mess too much with my final draft for a change.
"Metal Gear"™, "Metal Gear Solid: Ghost Babel"™ as well as their characters and images are the property of Konami Corporation.
