In summertime in Sweden, you are not able to trust the weather :D

as dawn breaks over the bay of palma, the sky transforms into a canvas painted with the vibrant hues of a cloudy winter sunrise. soft pinks, purples, and reds bleed into each other, offering a breathtaking spectacle that whispers the promise of a new day. the clouds, each a masterstroke of nature's artistry, add drama and depth to the horizon. it's a moment of serene beauty, a time when the world seems to pause in appreciation of the day's awakening.

While walking the Devils Postpile Upper Trail with a view looking to the southwest across the hexagonal patterns with its columnar basalt. My thinking in composing this image was to make more of a layered approach with the nearby overlook that then lead to a more distant mountainside. As the skies above were mainly overcast with forest fire haze, I worked the angle on my Nikon SLR camera to have the surrounding landscape filling most of the image while minimizing what I felt was a negative space with the skies above.

The second half of this past week called for great aurora, so I flipped my sleep schedule and squeezed in a north shore overnight trip on my only free night, Wednesday. Unfortunately, it was cloudy and I only caught a few glimpses of the glow behind the clouds.
