A beautiful sunset as we leave the Cromarty Firth to travel north to Orkney.

Sometimes the sun just finds a gap in thick cloud and produces a god-like shaft of light from the heavens to the ground. If you are very lucky you can spot one from the air and if you are very, very lucky you can grab a photo! This photo was taken over Hertfordshire just after some heavy rain. The central shaft is illuminating near St Pauls Walden.

Smoke from the wildfires in Western United States made it to the Northeast creating a few days of smoky skies.

 

*My heart does go out to those affected out west, this just gets worse and worse every year.
