One of my favourite shots from Skye and a totally unplanned image as far as location goes.
The scene here you could see happening with the mountain coming in and out of view for a few momemts with the low cloud moving left to right constantly changing the scene, eventually the mountain appeared and all the cloud clinging to the sides of the mountains below made for a fabulous scene which I was ready set up to shoot, using the lone cottage for a sense of scale...
One of those special moments you cannot plan, but you can anticipate what you want from it, all you have to do is set up and wait.

South Stack is set in a spectacular location a few miles to the north-west of Holyhead, it was completed in 1809.
An early morning shot with some nice clear conditions just before the inevitable rain started for the day, the oncoming rain meant plenty of moving clouds to use, a 2 minute exposure time streaking them right across the scene.

I am so far behind in uploading images to Flickr, This is one of my practice shots with the Fuji X-T1 and Kit Lens taken last month.
The view of the moody sunset from the Royal Victoria Bridge. It was quite windy so I shielded my camera and managed to capture a few long exposures of the cloud movement. Canary Wharf, the O2 Arena and the City of London can be seen in the background.
UPDATE: I don't quite understand why? but 8 out of the last 9 shots that I have uploaded have all made EXPLORE! my Stats have gone through the roof!.... I would just like to thank you all for your kind comments and favorites over the past week. :-)
Flying visit to Black Nore Point this evening, in-between the rain storms.
Decided to try a long exposure to catch some cloud movement.
Only managed two shots "it was flipping freezing"
Tempted to title this "The Portishead Aurora" :-)

A shot which follows on nicely from the last one as this was shot several hours later at Tarskavaig, we had come here for sunset, it was a new location for me on the island and one I like a lot.
The one thing this photo cannot tell you is just how windy it was here, the wind was coming in hard off the sea and was really causing issues with stability, the spikes on the tripod were rammed right into the ground and I still needed to shield the camera set up by standing in front of it with my coat taking the brunt of the wind whilst trying not to get blown over or blown into the setup! not easy! I had shot a panorama of the scene before this and had to abandon it twice due to unsharp images.
Once that was in the bag I thought I'd push my luck and go for a long exposure, somehow using the same method I managed 2 sharp ones with the nice side lighting coming into the scene picking out the details, while the clouds were blown quickly accross the scene with the strong winds, can't grumble!
As a side to this after we had finished shooting here we walked back to the car and I saw what I thought was a dog on the beach, which would be unusual as it is in the middle of nowhere, as it got closer I saw it wasn't a dog at all but a huge Sea Otter! I've wanted to see one of these all my life in the wild and in all my trips to Scotland I hadn't seen one, what a fantastic moment! he came running by and we watched him dissapear into a sea channel further along, as far as shooting days go, definitely one of my favourites!

It's been 3 years since I could get over again to Iceland again, with Covid hitting us, so this trip was much needed!
Over the course of 8 days we did struggle at times with some absolutely foul weather and winds into to 80/90mph region at times but despite all the we managed to see the Aurora again twice and I visited about 4 ace new locations that I had never been to before, so I'm not one to complain!
This is one of the spots I hadn't been to before due to road closues on previous visits, it's sat at the West end of in the far South of the Island, and this is the only place you can up above it, with (remarkably) hardly any wind this morning it was perfect for a very long exposure giving a surreal look to proceedings, NiSi 10stop filter plud 4 stop medium GND filter. I took some 'regular' images as well but given that you might not get these conditions on any other visits this was the image I wanted the most. It's quite a precarious spot to be perched to take this so you really do not want ANY wind!

Caught some nice conditions yesterday morning on the Charles with really calm wind. Thanks to the Prudential and Hancock towers in Back Bay for always making good subjects for a nice skyline backdrop over the Charles River Yacht Club. I'm going to keep hitting this spot up while it's incredibly convenient for me.

A great spot to spend the last night near Tardinghen, from which we were kicked out of in the morning :}
Another shot from the very bold, elegant Mormon Temple in Chorley, Lancashire, this time a change to proceedings, in colour, you can't go in unless you're a Mormon, which is fair enough I suppose, it's meant to be amazing inside, however the outside isn't too shabby either so I'm happy with that, a windy and cloudy day provided the ideal conditions to get some really good cloud movement around the building.

The Northumberland coastline is a landscape photographers paradise and this remote spot is no exception.
Rumbling Kern, a precarious bit of rocky coastline jutting out into the North Sea, you could spend an age here and come up with something different each time, such is the vastness of the rock formation and patterns, the hardest parts are spotting something you want to shoot and then trying to get to it without going flying on seaweed or falling down crevices in the rocks.
This spot looked like it had potential and took a good while to get out to safely, this took quite a while to set up as the tripod had to be balanced either side of the gap between the 2 rock faces and I was stood on a tiny bit of rock that stretched between the 2 as well, with all my stuff laid out on either side, balancing legs between the rock faces while trying to compose the shot and put filters on, while keeping an eye on the tide that was on it's way back in... not an easy proposition.
Decided on a portrait format image here with the 16-35mm lens, I could have gone slightly wider but that would have meant using really clumbersome filters and there was hardly any room to move about at all so the location dictated the set up for me.
This was the result, I was really drawn to the rock textures and the deep gully leading into the ocean with the colourful seaweed clinging to the rocks, the sea made a fantastic noise as it rushed into this narrow channel and splashed up at the rear of me. As soon as this one was in the bag it was back to the shoreline before the sea cut this rocky section off, definitely a place I'll come back to again and again.
Have a zoom in and have a look around.

Really feeling the return of the boats on the Charles. Got lucky and some decent light hit the clouds about 5 mins after sunrise, wasn't sure the cloud bank on the horizon was going to allow it.

October 2020 and the very first visit to the Lakes this year due to you know what...
It was so good to get back up here again as I've really missed it, the Autumn colours are just starting to turn and even though it poured down for a large part of the day it didn't matter.
This was our first stop off point on this day and the water levels in the lake were absolutely perfect for this, the last time I came here you couldn't even see the old jetty beneath the water, the timing on this was really lucky too as pretty much as soon as I had got this shot it started to rain...
Huge thanks to Mike Tonge too for letting me borrow his cable release to get this portrait version, seeing as mine was playing up, that's now been whizzed into the bin...
Anyway, great to be back, and a couple more images to come.
The new little boathouse on the opposite side of the water is a welcome new feature.

I went to take some long exposures of the sunrise over the Zakim Bridge and Charles River. When I was done and walking back to my car, I realized the conditions were perfect to get the facade of this building again. I took some long exposures over a year ago from the rear of the building, but never the front, so I slapped the gear together and took some exposures of the the front corner of this building during prime early morning sunlight with some great clouds. The lighting couldn't have been better, and I would have been a fool to pass it up.

Stormy evening shot of the newly renovated Marine Lake in Clevedon. Only open for 3 days before draining for more repairs.
My kids yesterday in a field near my home kept saying to them look out for the farmer he chase us if he sees us .
This long exposure photo of a melting spring lake was captured by photographer Derek Boen with a 5-stop WonderPana ND32 filter. Derek mounted this filter on his Pentax 15-30mm f/2.8 lens with our Tamron 15-30 WonderPana filter system, which also fits on the Pentax lens.

I used a single 3.0 ND because I would have needed more clouds to be comfortable using a CPL to knock down any glare on the buildings. Large blue-sky "fields" can be persnickety with such stacks, especially at wide angles and when dealing with screw on filters. I was glad to have some clouds and was happy with the lighting. I didn't use any post process distortion correction or cropping, I was able to shoot at 16mm and get these lines.

This is a joint I took awhile back. I had posted a colored version of an exposure I took during this session, and it was interesting to go back through the images and find some great ones with more clouds that I took later on. So for fun, I revisited this one and processed it through Silver Efex Pro 2 via Adobe Camera Raw and Photoshop CC 2015.

It was a really busy day on the jetty, a lot of passerby traffic, but with a little patience I was able to get this exposure in. This was my third time going for these conditions in the past 2 weeks. I finally got good clouds with a proper tide height, and the angle of the sun was perfect to illuminate the water and yield rich blues and greens.

Some heavy clouds started to clear up late this morning and I got this exposure while running errands in the city. I wanted to get an architecture shot in the Back Bay, but I couldn't find parking. Realizing the conditions were fleeting, I cruised over to Memorial Drive where I easily got a spot in front of the MIT sailing pavilion. All I had to do was walk 20 feet to set up, which makes this spot a beautiful thing.
The wind was gusting at an insane speed and the lighting from directly above wasn't ideal, but it ended up giving this image an interesting look. This was an exposure where the sun only came out for 20 secs at the end and gave a nice brilliance to the very dark choppy water. Right after I got this exposure, a team of sailors came out and lifted all the boats into the water. While this was happening, the sky clouded over and it started sprinkling, so the timing couldn't have been better.
