Common hippos are recognisable by their barrel-shaped torsos, wide-opening mouths revealing large canine tusks, nearly hairless bodies, columnar legs and large size; adults average 1,500 kg (3,310 lb) and 1,300 kg (2,870 lb) for males and females respectively. Despite its stocky shape and short legs, it is capable of running 30 km/h (19 mph) over short distances.
This is a photo I consulted my wife on for processing. She likes a softer, more low contrast look. When she told me to make it "cooler", I showed her the split tone feature in Lightroom. This allows us to cool the shadows while keeping the highlights warm. Kind of a neat look.

The image was made from a capture of about 300 frames, using a Philips ToUcam Pro webcam attached behind the Galileoscope, with a Meade 3x Barlow lens inbetween.
The captured webcam movie was registered and combined into a single image using Registax. Some final adjustments (including unsharp masking) were made with Photoshop and iPhoto.
