Closeup photo of a rainbow trout on Seedskadee National Wildlife Refuge. Fish as Art Photo: Tom Koerner/USFWS
These two mallards had a little disagreement and went at it for a few moments before settling down and continuing on their way. I've seen little fights before but never like this shot.
Please view on black for best effect. Thanks!
Closeup portrait of seagull.
Gulls or seagulls are seabirds of the family Laridae in the sub-order Lari. They are most closely related to the terns (family Sternidae) and only distantly related to auks, skimmers, and more distantly to the waders. Until the twenty-first century most gulls were placed in the genus Larus, but this arrangement is now known to be polyphyletic, leading to the resurrection of several genera.

During a recent trip to St. Louis to visit with friends and their nine month old twin boys, I managed to get some pretty nice photos, shooting 100% candid with flash.
Most of the time I was working with bounced light from a camera mounted speedlite, but I found that many of my favorite shots from the trip were made with the Neewer 16" speedlite mounted "softbox", hand held off camera on a 3' ETTL cord.
All flash work was done manual. (no ETTL "auto" flash shooting)
It was a great exercise in working with light in candid settings with subjects that never stop moving!
