Mixing textures and materials recently. As much as I liked the idea in my head, too much leather quickly descends into dominatrix territory. Which, yeah, okay, I might still get around to eventually.
Starting in October 2012, the second ARM Mobile Facility (AMF2) was deployed on the Horizon Lines cargo ship Spirit for the year-long Marine ARM GPCI1 Investigation of Clouds (MAGIC) campaign, traveling between Los Angeles, California, and Honolulu, Hawaii. The purpose of the deployment was to understand and parameterize clouds, precipitation, aerosols and radiation, and the interactions among them.

As a photographer, I’m always looking to capture the essence of my subject. Here it was her intense gaze, emphasised by her make-up and framed by her hair and faux fur wrap.
Crews work to distribute freshly mixed concrete from the concrete truck chute into a panel mold. This panel is located on northbound I-5 near Northgate Way.
This is a photograph of a swing door of a restored house in the Joo Chiat area. The distinctive swing door or 'pintu pagar' in Malay is a unique feature in these restored houses. The swing doors provide privacy in the front hall of the house, from the five-foot way outside.

Close up of springbok puzzle. A hard puzzle...probably the hardest one I have done...but pieces fit well and they are tight, very thick cardboard...this is a vintage puzzle.
(Very) close-up image of the heat-part of our heater in our living room. I don't know what the material is that separates the flames from us, but it's quite strong (not to mention hot at the range at which I took this picture, which was about 1 cm).
The fabric is a "hard" wool and has not pressed as well as I hoped. It was a remnant from a pair of pants and is a very dark green.

Hammarbya (Malaxis) paludosa - Bog Adder's Mouth Orchid
A close up view of one of the rarest native orchids in Alberta (and perhaps in all of North America). These have non-resupinate (i.e., upside down) flowers... so the green and white striped floral segment is actually the lip. The other dominant feature of this flower is its size... about 2mm across!
These are almost impossible to find because they are so small, plus they are exactly the colour of the moss they live in, and they always seem to be only found when you are standing in water. You have to get wet to get a good view of these. Once you do see one, you cannot look away, or it is often difficult to refind the same plant!
Needless to say, a very challenging plant to photograph.
It was a good year for H. paludosa at the Wagner Natural Area this year. We found more than 20 flowering plants scattered between 5 different locations.
