This show caught me out over the bank holiday weekend. There's almost certainly going to be a show here over easter but I couldn't find anything online. A last minute decision to go and take a look worked out a treat. This was one of 3 Acclaims in attendance, but by far not the cleanest, which is a nice contrast to the others being pretty honest about its character.

Red Wings 777-21H(ER) Reg: VP-BMR as "Air Red 8977" arriving at Heathrow from Krasnoyarsk. Taken from my hotel room window which wasn't the cleanest!!!

I leave you with that.

Taken on early afternoon stroll around the lake side ((7.2 km or 4.5 miles total distance).

The emerald-green colored clear Eibsee lake, a jewel of Werdenfelser Land, nestles snugly in the bowl under the stark cliffs of Zugspitze at 973.28 meters above sea level.

It is 2.39 km (1.5 miles) long, 1.09 km (0.68 miles) wide, up to 35 m (115 ft) deep (depending on the water level) and has 7 islands along the northern shore. Lake Eibsee was created by a gigantic rock slide. It deserves its reputation as one of the most beautiful and cleanest lakes in Upper Bavaria, Germany.

After the lake was created, a sea of clouds occurs almost all year round, making it a famous tourist destination for those who want to see it.

I'm always amazed by the beauty of the arctic wolves whenever I watch them at the wildlife park although on my last visit they were all quite dirty due to our rainy weather which had converted the ground of their enclosure into mud. This one was about the cleanest of the pack, most likely because he didn't move much. I used a texture here (www.flickr.com/photos/alicepopkorn/4332151551) which suits "my" wolf better than the original background which was dark and ugly.

Popped up to Heath Pond at Petersfield yesterday... had just finished photographing a Red Kite that had been circling, when I noticed a little bit of commotion in front of me... took me a moment to realise that I had just witnessed a a Peregrine knock a pigeon out of the sky, and after a quick bout of aerobatics it caught the tumbling bird before flying off. I didn't get the initial strike and this is one of the cleanest shots, but I did notice in later frame the Falcon appeared to be plucking feathers from the pigeon while in flight...

St. Bartholomew's Church, Berchtesgaden

Germany's Most Beautiful Alpine Lake

Lake Königssee lies just a couple of miles south of the town of Berchtesgaden and is Germany's deepest and cleanest lake.

St. Bartholomew's (German: St. Bartholomä) is a Roman Catholic pilgrimage church in the Berchtesgadener Land district of Bavaria in Germany. It is named after Saint Bartholomew the Apostle (Bartholomäus in German), patron of alpine farmers and dairymen. The church is located at the western shore of the Königssee lake, on the Hirschau peninsula. It can only be reached by ship or after a long hike across the surrounding mountains.

A first chapel at the lake was built in 1134 by the Provosts of Berchtesgaden. In 1697 it was rebuilt in a Baroque style with a floor plan modelled on Salzburg Cathedral, two onion domes and a red domed roof. The church features stucco work by the Salzburg artist Joseph Schmidt and a three-apse choir. The altars in the apses are consecrated to Saint Bartholomew, Saint Catherine, and Saint James respectively.

Near the chapel lies the old hunting lodge of the same name. The lodge, which was first erected in the 12th century with the church, has been rebuilt several times. Until 1803, it was a private residence of the Berchtesgaden Prince-provosts; after their territory had been incorporated into the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1810, the building became a favourite hunting lodge of the ruling House of Wittelsbach; today it is an inn.

Imagine this... a place located in a valley... with a cleanest river running through it... next to the most beautiful lake... next to the most majestic Swiss Alps...

That's Lucerne (Luzern) in Switzerland!

If ever you go to Europe... this place is a MUST see...

ps. The original photo was tilted (accidentally) so rather than cropping it, I tilted the frame instead to give it that effect of a photograph lying on a table... :)

Go North East's Riverside-based Euro 6 Daimler-engined Wright Streetlite DF/Wright Streetlite Max Micro-Hybrid 5455 (NK66 EWD), which carries Go North East's new corporate livery with "The 49" branding, is pictured here in the yard at Riverside Depot, Gateshead, prior to entering service. 27/01/17

Representing an investment of approximately £1.9m and forming part of a £10m investment into new vehicles this financial year; Go North East has ordered eleven Wright Streetlite Max Micro-Hybrid vehicles, which will be used to upgrade services 49/49A/49C (Gateshead - Winlaton), replacing the existing Mercedes Citaro allocation.

Manufactured by Wrightbus in Northern Ireland, this batch of vehicles feature the latest Euro 6 Micro-Hybrid engines with the cleanest vehicle emissions standards. Unlike previous examples in the fleet, they therefore feature a Wrightbus grille on the rear bonnet, providing additional air circulation.

Similar to all recent orders, these vehicles feature Esteban Civic V3 seating complete with e-leather; two-colour Tarabus 'Wood Effect' flooring; and blue accent lighting, which is fitted underneath seats, to provide extra light on the gangway.

They also feature free customer Wi-Fi, audio-visual Next Stop Announcement LED internal signs, and USB power sockets on the back of each seat to allow mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets to be charged 'on the go'.

Yesterday, while I was lying on my belly taking dewdrop/flower refraction photos (don't laugh - doesn't everyone do that?), I noticed this hoverfly a few inches away from me. He was taking a bath in this tiny drop of water that was hanging from the grass. I watched him for a minute or so - this has got to be the cleanest fly in my neighborhood. He kept dipping his arms in the water and cleaned his entire body. It was especially funny watching him do his back, these guys are so flexible ;-)

So..... being the person I am, I *had* to photograph him so here he is. Nice & clean and fresh from a bath. He's probably cleaner than some people I've seen. :-D

USA Waste Services SE23B-M no. 400 is looking large as it leads New York & Atlantic train RS-90 across 56th St / Flushing Ave on its way down the LIRR Bushwick Branch. "Think Green" is emblazoned on the locomotive and its mated slug, SE23B-S no. 010, as well as a claim touting it as "the world's cleanest diesel locomotive."

Starlings rehearsing their lines among the first leaves of spring — not the cleanest perch, but very much the season’s reality.

Looking north across the entrance to Arthur River, North West Tasmania.

This amazingly rugged coastline is landfall for the longest uninterrupted stretch of ocean in the world! Tasmania's West Coast is battered by the “roaring forties” winds which travel from Patagonia, South America.

The wind and currents sweep unimpeded over halfway around the planet, more than 16000km away untouched by land until they reach these shores. Claimed to have the cleanest air in the world, it is a pretty special place!

This is easily the cleanest Eclipse I've seen. Spotted at Westfarms.

Hot on the heels of UP 3093 from the previous shot, we decided to move locations in between trains to the next crossing over. What has to be the cleanest ACU on the roster currently was our final train for the day. Unfortunately there was nowhere to shoot it wide at this time of day, as the side was absolutely sparkling clean, but this telephoto will do just fine I suppose. The reason it was washed was for use on a CP/KCS publicity train that was run run a few weeks earlier.

NS 304 sported probably the cleanest lashup I've ever seen, as in on par with excursions level of clean. A brand new Norfolk Southern GP59ECO leads a equally new road slug and an SD40-2 over the Miami River bridge outside Dayton, OH, bound for Reed Yard in Middletown, OH. The engineer of 304 placed the ol' red, white and blue on the front railing. Way cool!

This one was a bit of a challenge as it was shot through glass (obviously!) and it wasn't the cleanest of windows!

A bit of two-fer with 2 B727s side by side at Kemble. Not the cleanest photo but its not every day that you see a 727.

On last month's flight to Colorado I had a window seat on the right side of the plane, so as we went over southern Washington I had a nice view of Mt Adams and Mt Hood. Was able to barely make out Mt Jefferson (further south) with my eyes, but it didn't show up in the photo. Not the cleanest image, as the window wasn't exactly spotless!

One of the cleanest 993's out there. Looks amazing!

This bird was way up high and couldn’t get the cleanest shot. Not sure what type this is?

I've been in South Sardinia for the past three summers, but this year was the first time I went to Cagliari, capital of region.

I enjoyed the ancient part of town, locally called "Casteddu" (ie "castle"). Through its old streets I found a lot of dishes full of food...for a lot of alley cats. This one was my favourite: he reminded me of an old lion, full of scars but still beautiful. Guess what? I spent a lot of time cuddling him, despite he wasn't the cleanest cat I've ever seen. But he was too sweet to care about!

Have a great day

Great Spotted Woodpecker / dendrocopos major. Calke Park, Derbyshire. 30/11/16.

I was privileged to have two GSW's interacting with each other close to where I was concealed in Calke Park. They showed up a couple of times landing within six feet of me. I don't know if they were a pair or whether one was a parent bird who was still being pestered by a youngster born in the Spring.

The bird shown was the neatest and cleanest of the two and lacked a red nape spot. This denotes it as a female. Whenever there was an altercation, it was she who backed down and flew off a short distance with lots of loud calling.

At 4000 meters in a mountanous desert you really must plan your housing for permanent living. Winters can get down to -50C, add ferocious winds and snowfalls to super dry summers, and you get a house like this.

Despite the hard living the plus side is that they have the cleanest air and the clearest skies, fresh fish from the lakes, no violence, corruption or greed. You simply would not survive here with the latter.

Laid out in a line on top of a Bramble bush, bit risky as it takes the ground vibration senses out. First thing to do is use binoculars to find which end the head is and move round the Bramble to get the cleanest shot before being rumbled, this one left undisturbed because it was up in the air.

“And Lord, we’re especially thankful for nuclear power, the cleanest, safest energy source there is” – Homer Simpson, 1990

“Quality Fuel for Electric Living” - Consolidated Coal Company, 1987.

Both quotes from three decades ago are equally offensive to modern-day environmental activists, but only one was a corporate slogan that was proudly displayed on hopper cars. Here one of Consolidated Coal’s hoppers is in line to be flood loaded at Consol’s Blacksville Number 2 Mine at Wana, West Virginia.

Dolan Falls at sunset. Where Dolan Creek meets the Devils River in southwest Texas is the largest perennially flowing waterfall in the state, as well as some of the cleanest water due to its remote location. This is the view looking south from the main fall.

Miami (/maɪˈæmi/; Spanish pronunciation: [miˈami]) is a seaport city at the southeastern corner of the U.S. state of Florida and its Atlantic coast. In a rare change of railfan luck, the cleanest unit in the consist is leading. Quite the opposite of what usually seems to happen.

These were some great looking units with their updated paint scheme. Second in appearance only to fresh Warbonnets, IMHO.

Poem.

Oh, such raw, simple, starkly wild splendour.

Fern and bracken.

Succulent shrubs and bushes.

Rhododendron.

Spruce forest.

Rocky headlands.

Brilliant white shell-sand beaches of Kentra Bay,

Camas an Lighe and Cul na Croise-the singing sands.

Sand dunes blown into mounds in the forest a hundred feet high.

Mountains like Sgurr Dhomhuill Mor and beyond that, Rhois-Bheinn, shrouded in morning cloud, above the luscious, verdant slopes and channels of Loch Moidart.

Unspoiled.

Majestic.

Pristine.

With alluring views to the shapely islands of Rum, Eigg and Muck, across the Sound of Arisaig.

This place is good for the soul.

Peace, tranquillity, solitude.

A sense of oneness with this staggeringly beautiful, natural world.
