It has been raining like crazy here in Northern California. While out for a walk, two things were noticed. One, FedEx and other delivery services work very hard, regardless of the weather. Two, rain puddles are a good teacher when trying to learn how to shoot a reflection. #classicnegative

Along the trail I walked Saturday.

This is basically SOOC, save for a bit of added sharpening in post. I really like the desaturated, filmic look of the Classic Negative simulation. It works well for subjects with greens and browns, especially.

In this photo, my wife is walking her sister’s poodle. This is happening late afternoon and in a neighborhood that we’re considering for retirement. It’s the sort of environment I couldn’t imagine being a part of when I was young and active. But when old age happens, places that are designed for senior living start to make more sense.

Still, from the pic, you might sense some of the Twilight Zone aspects. Seniors tucked away in their homes, no kids about, no streetlights, no sidewalks, almost no traffic. A tad spooky but practical. The houses are designed for safety, late-life amenities are abundant, and the people are nice. I will not complain about the community’s golf course, either.

Re the photo, I think the #classicnegative film sim helps make the scene more desolate or isolated, and perhaps in an old-look way.

We may be residents instead of visitors one day.

I mostly brought my new-ish camera to show it to Chryseis, but of course when you meet another photographer mutual photos must be taken.

We took a little road trip today to the Muddy Pond community near Crossville, TN.

The humble but comfortable home where multiple generations of my paternal, biological family have lived and raised their kids.

It's a long story, but I didn't know anything about them until I was in my early 30s. Now they're a big part of my life.

From my various social media feeds, I've noticed some publicity around today, Sept. 29, being National Coffee Day. Well, we celebrate that moment every day in our house. My entry into the celebration is this post-lunch coffee pour-over, which is getting ready for some boiling water. #classicnegative

When I take my morning walk, I am certain many of my neighbors say, "There goes that weirdo with the camera again." Maybe that's why one of my neighbors is using barbed wire? To keep me out? (Likely to keep animalls in.) Regardless, perfect skies on this morning's jaunt. #classicnegative

We don't know how he does it, but Santa always takes the time to leave our family a nice note. It's obvious that he's very appreciative of the treats we leave for him and the gang. How he finds the time, we will never know. #christmas2022 #classicnegative

Out on my walk today, I visited the grounds of a local church. This is Church of the Nativity in Menlo Park, Calif. I wish I'd taken a wide-angle lens with me in order to capture the whole building. #classicneg
