Former home of Charles Wade. From the age of seven, Charles Wade had a passion for collecting, and restoring beautiful, and interesting objects. He lived his whole life according to his motto, 'Let Nothing Perish', because he saw the true value of craftsmanship, colour and design.
Three young classical musicians perform for passers-by at a BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) underground subway station at Powell Street in downtown San Francisco, California. Commuters entering and exiting the station were stopped in their tracks by a trio of siblings, all age 10 or younger, playing classical music.
The Little Stars String Trio, made up of 8-year-old Valery Brashears, 9-year-old Starla Brashears and 10-year-old Dustin Brashears Jr. were busking as if they had been doing it for years, dotting their performances with flashes of flair.
It's a pity you can't hear the music but just imagine listening to a trio of very accomplished musicians.....I have attended professional concerts for years, have an ear for good music and, can honestly say that these children are unique and fantastic.....a pleasure to listen to and quite extraordinary.

This is a MOC I built with friends... first, we wanted to do I bigger, but I didn't have enough pieces.
This head comes from Centuripe in Sicily. Cicero describes it, perhaps with some exaggeration, as being by far the largest and richest city of Sicily, and as having a population of 10,000, engaged in the cultivation of an extensive territory. It was granted Latin Rights before the rest of Sicily. It appears to have suffered much in the war against Sextus Pompeius because of his loyalty to Octavian, but these reconstructed and gave the inhabitants the Roman citizenship. The Imperial Roman age has left the most impressive monumental remains. Grandiose monumental ruins, a rich complex of sculptures, numerous inscriptions: a whole series of elements seem to mark the accomplishments of a local family that, in the 2nd century, came to express a consul, a son of one of the components of the entourage of the emperor Hadrian. A large number of monumental remains were lost forever due to the neglect of the past and systematic theft and plundering for collectors and collections of every where. Gradually declined in the late Empire.
Emperor Frederick II entirely destroyed the city in 1233 in punishment for its rebellion, the inhabitants deported to Augusta. King Charles I of Anjou razed it completely to the ground, and the city was rebuilt only in 1548 by Francesco Moncada.
The city was known as Centorbi until 1863. In 1943 during World War II and the liberation of Sicily the Battle of Centuripe saw the town captured spectacularly from the defending Germans by the 38th (Irish) Infantry Brigade although it suffered some damage.
In Greek mythology, Persephone (/pəˈsɛfəni/, per-SEH-fə-nee; Greek: Περσεφόνη), also called Kore or Cora (/ˈkɔəriː/; "the maiden"),[n 1] is the daughter of Zeus and the harvest goddess Demeter, and is the queen of the underworld. Homer describes her as the formidable, venerable majestic princess of the underworld, who carries into effect the curses of men upon the souls of the dead. Persephone was married to Hades, the god-king of the underworld.[1] The myth of her abduction represents her function as the personification of vegetation, which shoots forth in spring and withdraws into the earth after harvest; hence, she is also associated with spring as well as the fertility of vegetation.

Persephone used to live far away from the other gods, a goddess within Nature herself before the days of planting seeds and nurturing plants. In the Olympian telling, the gods Hermes and Apollo had wooed Persephone; but Demeter rejected all their gifts and hid her daughter away from the company of the Olympian gods.[72] The story of her abduction by Hades against her will is traditionally referred to as the Rape of Persephone. It is mentioned briefly in Hesiod's Theogony,[73] and told in considerable detail in the Homeric Hymn to Demeter. Zeus, it is said, permitted Hades, who was in love with the beautiful Persephone, to carry her off as her mother Demeter was not likely to allow her daughter to go down to Hades. Persephone was gathering flowers with the Oceanids along with Artemis and Athena—the Homeric Hymn says—in a field when Hades came to abduct her, bursting through a cleft in the earth.[74] Demeter, when she found her daughter had disappeared, searched for her all over the earth with Hecate's torches. In most versions she forbids the earth to produce, or she neglects the earth and in the depth of her despair she causes nothing to grow. Helios, the sun, who sees everything, eventually told Demeter what had happened and at length she discovered the place of her abode. Finally, Zeus, pressed by the cries of the hungry people and by the other deities who also heard their anguish, forced Hades to return Persephone.
Hades indeed complied with the request, but first he tricked her, giving her some pomegranate seeds to eat. Persephone was released by Hermes, who had been sent to retrieve her, but because she had tasted food in the underworld, she was obliged to spend a third of each year (the winter months) there, and the remaining part of the year with the gods above

Pulcinella (Italian pronunciation: [pultʃiˈnɛlla], Neapolitan: "Polecenella") is a classical character that originated in commedia dell'arte of the 17th century and became a stock character in Neapolitan puppetry. Engineered specifically to be the star of southern Italy, he is described as "the voice of the people, as the direct expression of a people as lively and spirited as the Neapolitans is never questioned."[2] Pulcinella's versatility in status and attitude has captivated audiences worldwide and kept the character popular in countless forms since his introduction to commedia dell'arte by Silvio Fiorillo [it] in 1620.[3]

We went to Astoria to see a locomotive that's being restored and to experience the Sunday market there.
We did all that, but to my delight we discovered that the Museum of Whimsy (MOW) was open. It's on the ground floor of the old bank that was redeveloped as an event space. The address is 1215 Duane Street, Astoria, Oregon.
The MOW's web site www.museumofwhimsy.com/ is worth visiting, but it's short on description. For that, take a look at Atlas Obscura's article about it:
Spread across two floors of a regal old 1920s bank building, this collection is packed with unexpected finds at every turn. It’s a smorgasbord of quirky curiosities, so you never know what treasures or trinkets you’ll come across.
There’s little rhyme or reason to the assortment of oddities.
The oldest item, a Native American chair seat made from colored porcupine quills, dates from the 1850s. But the rest of the whimsical wonders are a medley of old and new artifacts from around the world.
You can climb inside a full-sized replica of a British canal narrowboat parked unceremoniously within the old bank building, scan the exhibits for intricate wax boxes, or simply wander the room until you stumble across a piece of vintage clothing or jewelry that sparks your interest.
There are so many things to see, it’s difficult to decide where to start.
A striking collection of Folies Bergère dresses and hats immediately catches your eye as you enter—some of the hats even have the name of the dancer who once wore them scrawled inside.
Dolls, both daintily beautiful and disturbingly lifelike, are scattered throughout like well-stationed guards.
Taxidermy creatures, including a charmingly cute miniature horse, lurk in unexpected places and antique curios hide among newly commissioned works.
The museum is the work of Trish Bright, a retired stockbroker who bought the former bank with her husband in 2005. The curated odds and ends that fill the space are her ever-growing passion project.

Outdoors Nature Ballet Ballerina Woodlands Landscape Model Photography!
The terracotta caryatids (female figures that serve as the architectural support for the upper part of a classical building) of St. Pancras Church are a remarkable feature that brings a touch of Athenian elegance to the bustling Euston Road in London. These statues, modeled by John Charles Felix Rossi, are inspired by the Erechtheum on the Acropolis in Athens. However, they hold unique symbolism appropriate for their setting; each caryatid holds an extinguished torch or an empty jug, signifying their role as guardians of the dead, standing above the entrances to the church's crypt. The church itself, a Grade I listed building, is an early example of Greek Revival architecture in England, designed by William and Henry William Inwood. It was consecrated in 1822 and is noted for its impressive Ionic columns and the octagonal tower modeled after the Tower of the Winds, also from the Acropolis. The caryatids are made of terracotta, constructed in sections around cast-iron columns—a testament to the fusion of ancient inspiration and industrial-era innovation.
The Church was built primarily to serve the newly built up parts of the parish close to Euston Road. The building of St Pancras church was agreed in 1816. After a competition involving thirty or so tenders, designs by the local architect William Inwood, in collaboration with his son Henry William Inwood, were accepted. The builder was Isaac Seabrook. The first stone was laid by Prince Frederick, Duke of York at a ceremony on 1 July 1819. It was carved with a Greek inscription, of which the English translation was "May the light of the blessed Gospel thus ever illuminate the dark temples of the Heathen".
The church is in a Greek revival style, using the Ionic order. It is built from brick, faced with Portland stone, except for the portico and the tower above the roof, which are entirely of stone. All the external decoration, including the capitals of the columns is of terracotta.

The school closed in June, 1966 and the building, a brownstone built in 1891, became headquarters for the Worcester School Administration. It was replaced by Doherty Memorial High School and the members of the first graduating class of Doherty, of which I am a member, received a tour of the "old school" as part of our 50th reunion activities on 7 October, 2017.

Here's a build I've been waiting to photograph for ages! It's a 'classical' steampunk city diorama, with an open back and full interior. I also lit it up using Lightailing lights, which you can see here.
This is the bookshop, the sand green and red building to the right. It looks quite cosy lit up!
