Marble sculpture at the Munich Glyptothek in Germany.

For some reason this shot reminds me of an old 1930's film :) I love this boyy so very much! Though he's been a pain for the last couple days he wont leave my side. Everywhere I go he has to follow which i suppose is not a bad thing but its very annoying xD espically if I put him in my room for a second and walk away he screams bloody murder xD he never done that not even as a puppy. I guess he just loves me so much (:

Oh btw I finally got pro account! :D

Ralph Waldo Emerson. The happiest man is he who learns from nature the lesson of worship.

Lucius Annaeus Seneca: On entering a temple we assume all signs of reverence. How much more reverent then should we be before the heavenly bodies, the stars, the very nature of God!

John Muir: All the wild world is beautiful, and it matters but little where we go, to highlands or lowlands, woods or plains, on the sea or land or down among the crystals of waves or high in a balloon in the sky; through all the climates, hot or cold, storms and calms, everywhere and always we are in God's eternal beauty and love. So universally true is this, the spot where we chance to be always seems the best.

Built between 1917 and 1923, this Classical Revival-style train station was designed by Charles Sumner Frost to replace an earlier Union Station, built in 1881 and burned in 1915. The large stone-clad building features a facade with large Tuscan columns, massive windows at the portico that stretch two stories high, ionic pilasters on the side wings, a simple cornice with dentils, and brick cladding on the rear. Inside, the building features many beautifully detailed grand spaces, including a spacious grand hall in the front, a concourse with a brick ceiling made up of multiple vaults, and a vaulted waiting room over the train platforms in the rear. The building fell into decline after World War II, hastened with the end of passenger service in 1971. The building was utilized by the US Postal Service, with the upper floors of the building being converted into condos in the early 2000s. Between 2009 and 2012, the building was renovated under the direction of Hammel, Green, and Abrahamson Architects and Engineers, with intercity passenger train service being restored in 2014. The building is a contributing structure in the Lowertown Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Classical statue in modern setting - Florence, Italy

Monza - Rationalist architecture

The Rationalism way in architecture was developed in Italy in the twenties and thirties years of last century as a result of the international modern movement, inspiring cultural currents until the early seventies.

In residential construction, which has had significant expressions in Monza, following the principles of functionalism the house sides are drawn according to multiple proportions and, at the same time, modern forms combine with a classical volumetric system and a traitional balance of architectural space.

Among the buildings of classical antiquity, the Pantheon is certainly the best preserved, by virtue of its transformation into a church (Santa Maria ad Martyres) in 609. The original construction was erected between 27 and 25 BC at the behest of Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa in honor of Augustus and then dedicated to the main deities of the Julio-Claudian family. Its current form dates back to the early years of the reign of Hadrian (118-125). An enormous cylindrical wall (the Rotonda) over 6 meters thick supports the monumental vault, the largest dome made of Roman concrete, with a diameter of 43.30 meters and the same height.

I lose my sense of reality when I’m in Italy. Its architecture & history is mind blowing to me. And I love love love eating food that tastes like magic inside your mouth. And it’s not just pasta or my fav cornetto. It’s everything. It’s as if I live my life and then I’m here again. No past, no future. Just now. Here & now! Maybe that’s why Italians live longer and Italy is a part of the Blue Zone. Europeans are less judgmental than Americans are. They are! You don’t feel like a black sheep if a part of you does not fit into the society’s puzzle.

In classical mood...Reflections.

I have a collection of classical music that i like to dip into from time to time. In todays world, where ceaseless action leaves little space for thought, it's a joy to find time for peace and reflection...Everyone loves this music, whats your favourite?

We stopped the other day in Ligonier, IN to have a look around. When this town was settled there were a large number of Jewish people in the population that spent a fortune on their grand homes. All of that population is gone but many of the houses remain, most in decent repair. The neighbors told us that this one had just sold a few months ago and the new owner was going to fix it up. The scraping and painting alone that need to be done are pretty daunting but it is indeed a mansion!

I'm working on an anthology of classic, epic poetry, which begins with selections from Homer's Iliad and Odyssey! :) I've replaced the Roman names with the Greek names: "RAGE, Sing, O goddess, the rage of Achilles son of Peleus, that brought countless ills upon the Greeks. Many a brave soul did it send hurrying down to Hades, and many a hero did it yield a prey to dogs and vultures, for so were the counsels of Zeus fulfilled from the day on which the son of Atreus, king of men, and great Achilles, first fell out with one another."

All the best on your epic hero's odyssey into the art of photography!

I'm currently updating a translation with the Greek names for the gods and goddesses--will publish soon! :)

"RAGE--Sing, O goddess, the anger of Achilles son of Peleus, that brought countless ills upon the Achaeans. Many a brave soul did it send hurrying down to Hades, and many a hero did it yield a prey to dogs and vultures, for so were the counsels of Zeus fulfilled from the day on which the son of Atreus, king of men, and great Achilles, first fell out with one another.
