One of my favourite locomotives - LMS Ivatt Class 2 46441 on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway on June 3rd 2025. The engine is pictured approaching the halt at Newby Bridge with a train for Lakeside.
The Driver of Cardiff East Dock's ex GWR 4-6-0 Hall class No. 7903 'Foremark Hall', looks out as his mixed consist Class D freight remain on the mainline at Barnt Green Junction as it heads north for Birmingham. Whilst a Tender first Standard Class 2, 2-6-0 and its train of 15 ton mineral wagons also wait for a path north.

With a cold night expected, the shed was littered with braziers to ensure frost was not an issue, here we see BR Ivatt 2 46521 making the most of the warmth
Restored to her original KWVR livery, Ivatt class 2 2-6-2 tank no. 41241 pilots LMS class 4F no. 43924, heading the 10.15 Keighley to Oxenhope service past Haworth loop on 30th June 2018, during the Worth Valley Railway's 50th Anniversary Gala.
21st of December 1963 and Riddles Standard Class 2 78002 is arriving at Southport on a service from Preston.
The amount of railway infrastructure that can be seen in the photo illustrates the scope of the Southport Railway Systems even in 1963.
78002 was new to Oswestry on Christmas Eve 1952 and spent 10 years at Machynlleth, it was a Wigan Central (27D) loco at this time. Withdrawl came from Lostock Hall in June 1966.

A beam of sunlight cuts through the smoke - from the just-lit fire - which was shrouding the cab of Ivatt 2MT 2-6-0 46521 . With zero pressure on the boiler pressure gauge (top right) there was no chance to use the blower (the short lever under the regulator in the centre of the backhead) to increase the draught and clear it. Still, it added atmosphere to the footplate for a while and before long the pressure did come round - you only need about 10psi to get the blower working.

Widząc pierwszy raz taki widok, masz wrażenie;ale duży ogród z zabawką w środku przypominająca małą kolejkę, a to prawdziwa kolej w małym wydaniu. Niegdyś wożąca ciężkie składy żelaza i granitu z okolicznych kopalń, a dziś żądnych wrażeń turystów. Jeden z tych małych gigantów Class 2-8-2 „River Esk” złapany pomiędzy przystankami w okolicy Eskdale w przepięknym regionie Wielkiej Brytanii tzw. Lake District w Cumbrii.
It used to transport heavy iron and granite bulks from the local mines, and today it is tourists who are eager to experience it. One of those little giants of Class 2-8-2 "River Esk" caught between stops in the Eskdale area in the beautiful region of Great Britain called Lake District in Cumbria.

Apart from a few small details, it could almost have been taken in BR days, don't you think?
