A weekend away started at the Great Central Railway at Loughborough with a visit to their Autumn Steam Gala.
As Usual, the Main Aim was to get as many Steam Train Journeys to add to my Steam Powered Journeys Spreadsheet which is my modern "Trainspotting" record.

Ivatt designed class 2MT 2-6-2T no. 41324 is seen stabled at Weymouth mpd on 8th May 1965. The loco was built by British Railways at Derby and entered traffic at Crewe North in March 1952. She spent most of her working life in Wales and the north west of England before transfer to the Southern Region in 1961. Withdrawn just 5 months after this photo was taken, she was scrapped in November 1965.
The former GWR locomotive depot at Oxley had closed as a running shed in early March 1967 but continued receiving engines for boiler washouts for a few months after. BR Standard Class 4 75033 from Carnforth is present for that purpose on 18th June 1967. Condemned locomotives, Stanier 8F 48180 and Ivatt Class 2 46446 await disposal while a VW Campervan provides an interesting counterpoint.

After purchasing the former Southern Railway route into Middlesboro from NS, RJ Corman gets the ball rolling a few months into ownership. They continue to ship rather frequently today, now with a pair of SD70M's, also originating from NS though bought from Progress Rail.

A Photo from Day 5 of a 10 day 9 night "Railway Tour" of 13 Museums and Heritage Railway Locations. The Main Aim was to get as many Steam Train Journeys to add to my Steam Powered Journeys Spreadsheet which is my modern "Trainspotting" record.
The East Somerset Railway (ESR) runs trains from Cranmore station to Mendip Vale station and back on a 5 mile round trip along its Heritage Railway line.
Along the line, there is also a halt and Cranmore West Station which is near the Sheds.
There is ample car parking at the Cranmore end of the line on normal running days so I started there.
The day I went during the sort of main summer holidays, there was only 1 steam Locomotive running although another was at the sheds and could have been steamed if thought necessary.
Here, at Cranmore Station, my last photo on this visit to ESR is of 46447 which has just powered the return journey the Steam Train I have a day rover ticket for and which I joined at Cranmore West station after visiting the Sheds.
46447 is a Ivatt designed LMS "Class 2" 2MT 2-6-0 loco.

About a month after I started, my new combination is ready: an MAN TGX with a low-loader trailer carrying a steam locomotive. It represents a vehicle used by the British heavy haulage firm Allelys. Moving trains by road is one of their specialities.

BR Standard Class 2 78018 cruises towards Loughborough Central Station with the Windcutter rake of mineral wagons past the Charnwood Water footbridge. On the photo I notice the reflections of the trackside scenery on the smoke-box door, cylinder, dome and buffers. A tribute to the superb standard of preparation of the locos under the care of Great Central Railway.
Taken from a print in my collection, no further details known.

LMS/BR 2MT 2-6-0 46521 (BR Swindon/1953) arriving at Dolgellau with the 14:55 from Barmouth to Bala on the last day of workings between Barmouth and Bala.
Loco allocated to Machynlleth shed (6F).
Dolgellau station was built by the Cambrian Railways, it opened in 1868 and was the terminus of the branch from Barmouth. It later became a through station with the arrival of the Great Western Railway's line from Ruabon and Bala. The station used the anglicized name Dolgelly until 1960 when it was changed to the correct Welsh spelling.
