We arrived back at Loughborough station with LMS Fowler 0-6-0T Jinty 47406 at 13.15 and were relieved by Les & Rob. They dropped me off in the shed yard and I took this shot as they ran back to the water tank........................
The D7000 works nice and new button setup are good improvement. U1 and U2 are needed features and 14bit at 6fps works great. Unlike the D300s 14bit at 3fps.
Although a CF slot would be better than SD. Class10 not as good as CF 600x write speed. And with the extra MP its even slower to write. White Balance almost always spot on and better than the D300s.
Class 10, D4067 - 'Margret Ethel - Thomas Alfred Naylor' on the Preserved Great Central Railway
As i started to lose interest in the railway i stopped making record of times, dates and locations of photos so the best i can give on this is it was took in the late 80's or early 90s
Loughborough is the home of class 10 D4067 12/09/10. D4067 was built at Darlington in 1961 and like the rest of the class 10s, it spent its life with British Railways in South Yorkshire. Being non-standard, it was withdrawn as surplus after less than ten years service, and sold to the National Coal Board, who sent it to Betteshanger Colliery, Kent in March 1971. The NCB transferred it via Doncaster Works to Nailstone Colliery, near Coalville in early 1976 and it was withdrawn from there in March 1979. It was transferred to Loughborough on the 5th February 1980.
My own working life included Betteshanger Colliery in 1975 and also Bagworth Colliery near Coalville l feel a personal link to this particular locomotive.

D4067 running through an 'All Clear' signal at Loughborough on 10.10.10. Most of the shunting had been performed by steam, so spotting the D 4067 was a bonus. Picture taken with a Pentax ME Super and Pentax A 28-80mm zoom lens.
With thanks to my Dad for letting me post some of his early days on the railways.

Class 10 (Margaret Ethel - Thomas Alfred Naylor) in its new Blue and Yellow Inter City livery as 10119. The 50th birthday bash in its honour was cancelled and I assumed there was a problem with this locomotive. However here it is bringing 'Sparrowhawk' out to play from amongst a line of diesels parked in Loughborough yard. Photo taken with a Pentax ME Super, etc.

I had the real pleasure of teaching this large 10th grade class of 26. With this grade, they are brought out of their polarized thinking, working with Black & White Drawing and Contrast in 9th grade. What a better way to do so than with a limited Dutch palette from the Golden Age and painting Rembrandt's portraits!
We started out with practicing in charcoal, then did a preliminary sketch in pastel of a portrait by Rembrandt of their choice. On 16x20 paper, they painted with the following layers fo colors: yellow ochre, raw sienna, raw umber, black and alizarin crimson. In the end, I spent some time on teaching the class about how to bring out the details of eyes and how to bring the viewer's gaze up to the eye the way Rembrandt may have done with "vision-based techniques" (lost and found edges, center of focus techniques), guiding the viewer's eye through a picture or painting.
Class 10 119, named after owners Margaret Ethel - Thomas Alfred Naylor, hauls Brush Type 4 'Sparrowhawk' from a line of parked diesels to come out and play. Adjacent is the failed Class 37. Photo taken with a Pentax ME Super using an SMC Pentax-M 80-200mm f4.5 zoom lens and Fujicolor C200 film.
Class 10 No. D4067 is seen here at Rothley, on January 25th 2025.
