Feeling a little out of practice after the holidays, so I cranked out this picture of Chowder. Then I inked and colored in Photoshop. Let me know what you think!
Recipe is an adaptation of Redbook recipe. I used a can of creamed corn instead of the fresh corn and cream. Powdered green NM chiles were also used instead of the jalapenos. The potatoes were not peeled

This delicious cup of Maine clam chowder was a part of lunch at "The Lobster Shack" yesterday in Redwood City California.
Nov 17: This Pacific Rim chowder is a modified version of the soup at Red Fish, Blue Fish in Victoria. It's spicy, creamy (from coconut milk, not cow milk) and filling, which is not a comment I make a lot about soup. It could also easily be vegan.
I managed to find a recipe, but when I made it for the first time it was so spicy, it was nearly inedible. Now I omit the hot sauce, halve the sweet chili sauce and chipotle puree and add an extra can of creamed corn. This isn't the soup they sell (more vegetables, for one thing), but it's still pretty good
Strobist: Three strobes are at work here. To camera right an Interfit ColorFlash 150 bounced off a silver umbrella and also softened by shear fabric hung between light and subject. Strobe fired at 1/4 power triggered by pc sync cord. Directly behind parsley is a snooted Maxon camera strobe shooting at full power. To camera left is an Excallibur 3200 firing at 1/8 power through a white umbrella.

Roasted corn chowder with lime cured shrimp, served in a bread bowl.
Kurt cut no corners making this, and used heavy whipping cream as the base. It was absolutely divine.
Some delicious clam chowder which I consumed along the river. I once heard this is where the Bush family goes for fried clam strips when at their nearby retreat, but I havent really looked into it.

The Chowder House is located in Bandon's Old Town commercial district. It sits only a few yards from the Coquille River and Bandon's marina. It draws a quite a mid-day crowd of hungry locals and tourists alike. Forgot my tripod so a bit of camera jiggle in this shot.
