On this ,Monday Jan 13 2020 morning we see Boom Police Chief Stanley Chavez and City manager Alvin Alten looking at some vehicles /items stored at one of hangers at Boom airfield that might go up for auction soon .
The Airfield was built during WW2 and was abandoned in the 1970s ,it was sold to Boom in 1990s Today Boom uses as a place for the town's storage and trash transfer station.

Shown here parked in front of my place of business in 1984 is the company pickup truck. The first year for the redesigned front sheet metal of the 1981 to 1987 Chevrolet and GMC pickup trucks. During the run of this body style there were many combinations of grilles, headlight doors, number of headlamps and placement of the park and turn signal lamps. I always thought that this was the best and after that each minor yearly face lift they just messed with a good thing. They made millions of this body style and it proved to be a very popular and reliable truck. I certainly enjoyed mine while I owned it.

Heli apparently started making diecast models back in 1999 but I never knew of their existence until very recently when I discovered a number of their multi sets on AliExpress. More Siku in size than Matchbox and despite their cheapo unlicensed status most castings look fairly realistic and easily identifiable. This rather meaty and chunky looking pick-up appears to be based on a Chevrolet Silverado. Mint and boxed.

Officials with Hazzard Range Sheriff’s Office and Office of the Medical Investigator (OMI), was dispatched to location on China Town road near Battle Road Junction in the southern part of the county on Tuesday February 10th ,2026 to report of human remains found
Sheriff’s Office Executive Assistant /Public Information Officer Shelby Burk released a small statement on behalf of Sheriff Troy Forbes stating a local rancher found human remains in a cricket outfit. The remains have been sent to the Office of the Medical Investigator (OMI) and the Sheriff's Office is investigating but is asking the public if they have any info contact the sheriff's office .

With break in clouds on this Friday Jan 20 ,2017 ,we see Boom Police Chief Glen Roberts and Boom City manager Alvin Alten at the old Boom airfield talking .The Airfield was build during WW 2 and was abandoned in 1970s ,it was sold to Boom in 1990s Today Boom uses as pace for the town's storage and trash transfer station . Alten and Roberts are looking over the four units that are siting in storage .
See Boom PD has 8 officers ,but is has three vacate positions and one officer recovering after being hit by car on Jan 4th, 2017 Alten tells Roberts city commission and him are working on plan to raise officer pay ,but with very tight budget it is going to be rough .Three officers resign in pass month to take better paying jobs in bigger cities .

Glen and Lisa Roger, the owners of the Hazzard Range Inn, reported a suspicious discovery in one of their four rental rooms. While cleaning following a guest's departure, Lisa found pills later identified as fentanyl.
Glen, formerly a project engineer with Snowbird Construction Company, and his wife, Lisa, acquired the inn ,the beginning of April 2013. Following extensive renovations to the property, they celebrated their grand opening in July 2014.This first time something like this has happen since they owned the Inn .
On this Sunday May 10th , 2026 midday we see Clay County Sheriff's Office Deputy Rubin Johnson rushing to his unit after breaking Mother’s day lunch with his wife ,mother and brother in law .He just got call of semi truck crash just few miles east of here on NM 308 in Devils heat pass location ,also breaking lunch early is Rubin’s sister in law ,Mary .She is firefighter with Clay County volunteer fire Station 8 ( Creekdale ) .she was cleared to return to duty after giving birth to her first child. Lisa Hameler is daughter of Smokintex Saloon bartender and a Vietnam war ( 1955 – 1975 ) veteran . As she rushed out the door she thought to herself how thankful she got to spend little time with her father today. As his wife and her mother passed away in March after a long illness.
Smokintex Saloon is a grill located in Creekdale, a census-designated area in the eastern part of the county. It sits on the banks of Swift Creek in Cuchillo Asesino Canyon, which is in the Agudo Mountains, which is in the Eastern part of Hazzard Range National Forest, settled in the 1870s

It is another warm Oct 2017 day .We see Hazzard Range county Sheriff's office Sergeant Butch Soto ( out of the Fort Hazzard substation ) talking with brothers Ken and Hank Hack ,at Ken's trailer on Old shell rd in southern part of the county . Butch sometime takes his lunch break with them if he in the area .Today they talking about 77th annual county fair and how back in late 1940s Ken and hank use to harassing some of the animals. Butch says some new generation of teens are still doing that ,but were caught by selfies they took and posted to social media . Ken who lost his left arm in the Korean War ( 1950 to 1953 ) ,shakes his head and says " all fun and games till someone gets hurt or caught ! " Hank laugh and says " back in my day as a cop ,we did not do security at the fair ".
Butch says as he gets back in to his unit " different world today and when you were a cop Sparta had it's own police dept also !! " He also says " people should not be harassing anything ! "
Ken and Hank go back to their game of chess ,as local FM radio Station KRTK plays on Ken's radio . KRTK is broadcasting live from fair this year . The Fair is held at the fair grounds in the county seat of Sparta .

We see Hazzard Range county sheriff's Deputy Brady Munoz heading into the sheriff's office Fort Hazzard Substation.He is passing A blue Ford f 350 that used by county Public works dept Information Systems Division Information technician Director Darron Senski and assistant Hank Daca ,who are working on fall servicing of the communication tower for sheriff's substation .

61 Year old man of Muddy Spring ,was arrested by Muddy Spring police Sergeant Joey Dunn for DWI near the intersection of 5th and wood street . The man failed a field sobriety test and He blew a 0.15 and 0.17 during a breath alcohol content test. He was transported/booked into the county detention center .

Winter Cove rd that runes from NM state rd 168 to Winter cove a subdivision in northern of part of county along Eagle lake. Also in the area is Narrow cove marina ,is the northern boat ramp on the lake and with drought won't be long before ramp is closed . The marina has already been moved south about 2 miles to Desert cove . The other deputy with him is Deputy Miles Gallegos who is train and will be attending the state law enforcement Academy in the fall
In 1993, the Corsa B was unveiled, and in the United Kingdom, Vauxhall dropped the Nova name, with the car now being known as the Corsa. The Corsa also spawned a small coupé called Opel Tigra. 1.0 L 3-cylinder and 1.2 L 4-cylinder Family 0 economy version was launched in 1997, and a Lotus-tuned suspension was added as well as an exterior refresh.
The saloon model was built and sold in Latin America as Chevrolet Corsa Classic until 2010. A budget version introduced for the Brazilian market, the Chevrolet Celta, has bodywork resembling the late 1990s Vectra and Astra. The Celta was sold in Argentina as the Suzuki Fun for a certain period. In 2011, GM stopped representing Suzuki in Argentina, so the Celta reverted to its original name under the Chevrolet brand. Argentinian production began in September 1997, where it was the first locally built Chevrolet passenger car since 1978. The Latin American Corsa received a light facelift in 1999, with smoother bumpers, and from April 2002 (when the new Corsa II was introduced) the Corsa B began being marketed as the "Corsa Classic" until 2010 where it became the "Classic" when the Corsa B-derived Chevrolet Sail and Chevrolet Celta replaced it.
The saloon and estate car versions were produced in China by Shanghai GM as Buick Sail and Buick Sail S-RV, respectively from June 2001 to February 2005. That year they received a facelift and became known as the Chevrolet Sail and SRV. In September 2006, Chile became the first country outside China to receive the Chinese-assembled Sail; it is called the Chevrolet Corsa Plus, available as a four-door saloon with a 1.6 L 92 PS (68 kW) engine. The Corsa Plus includes dual front airbags, anti-lock brakes, air conditioning, electric windows and central locking as standard equipment.
In India, the hatchback, saloon and estate car versions were sold as the Corsa Sail, Corsa (or Corsa Joy) and Corsa Swing respectively until the end of 2005. The hatchback model was still being produced, and extensively marketed in South Africa as the Corsa Lite under the Opel branding until 2009 at which point it was discontinued.
In Thailand, Corsa available as Opel and fuel injected 8V 1.4-liter engine and "Joy" and "Swing" variants, both available with 3 or 5-door and manual or automatic.

Most times the county shop crews handle repairs / normal maintenance ,but today is one of those days the county had to contract out to one of priveite run garages they hold contracts with .

At 1:35 PM Thursday Jan 11th,2017 . Boom PD officers Jean Austin and Ron Brook where dispatch to 300 block of Main st ( city hall ) to report of two men arguing . Interim Police Chief Bernard Lockson told the Journal ,that the two men City Commissioner Randy Kette and local business owner Alex Chavez got into fight in Boom city hall .City clerk as them to leave ,but only went as far as front of the building . Officers where called after the keep scream at each other . Officers were able to deescalate the situation and Kette and Chavez went each other ways .

The argument was most likely over the firing of former police Chief Glen Roberts in Dec 2017 and the fact the city turn down a grant to repave Main St. This March election Chavez is running for Kette seat on city commission and Kette don't like that one bit . First time he has had challenger in 11 years being a city commissioner.

Two seats on the county commission are up for election. District 4 and current Commission Chair George Dallas " G.D " who yet again is unopposed in Primary and general election . Same for District 3 Vice chair Commissioner Fred Taller ,Judge Henry Sims and county assessor Holly Clark.
Only county races contested are County Sheriff . Current sheriff Troy Forbes had Alan Cay running against him in the Republican primary . Sheriff Forbes won . . County Magistrate Judge Sally Harts is also contested ,in fall though . By current County Municipal Judge Chris Lock .

For county judges and county assessor are unopposed . For Clay County Commissioner district 1 Current commissioner Dorothy York is not seeking reelection . Only two candidates filed for that seat are Democrat Sam Alden and Republican Dean Miller . Commissioner district 3 Democrat Gordon Bins is running unopposed in the June primary and Nov general election .
For Sheriff though current incumbent Republican Shawn Gray is unopposed in the June primary ,but he face Democrat a current Philipsburg Police Dept Captain Donald Akain

Press release from the desk of Sweetwater County Sheriff TJ Gonzales
An abandoned vehicle was reported to the Sheriff's office on Sunday, Dec 8th. Deputy Lexact took the report that had come about a common problem on East Mesa, but this abandoned vehicle was burnt, which was unusual. After an investigation by the sheriff's office investigator Lewis Baca, it was found that the pickup was stolen out of Albuquerque and linked to a few crimes there. Authorities in Albuquerque have been contacted.
At the current moment, the County commission and sheriff's office are working on a plan to crack down on Illegal dumping.

Boom is in Western Part of Apache County NM in the Terreno llano Seco basin ( TLS basin ) and Terreno llano Seco means dry flat land in Spanish . .TLS Basin is about 90 miles along ,about 20 miles wide in western Apache and Clay counties NM .
The population of Boom/the area around it , is around 1,000 people and sits about 35 miles west from Apache the county seat
