Cheeseballs!!!! Ohhhhh Yeaaaa!

Another shot of the moon from Houston, TX

I've had the same old couches for almost 9 years and it definitely shows. Even though they are micro fiber and I've tried cleaning them, they can only last so long ya know? They are stained, lumpy, and just plain gross. At the end of last year I started couch shopping and boy what a process it was. The way my living room is situated I realized I would maximize space by getting a sectional. I went to every furniture store in my area and couldn't find what I was looking for. So I enlisted my mom who has great home decor skills and we went to Riverside, Rancho Cucamonga, and even all the way to IKEA but we still couldn't find anything. They were either too large, too squishy, too lumpy, too dark, too poorly made, or too pricey! I was looking for a cream/off white color which made it even harder to find.

After several attempts I gave up. I was sick of looking and said I'd try again in the new year when stores might get some new stock. Well, just the other day I was looking on CraigsList for some small furniture and on the last page of my search I came across an off white sectional. Great quality, the right size and it was in my price range!! In fact it was way less than I was prepared to spend on a sectional. So long story short it was still available and yesterday the seller even delivered it to me.

I really didn't want a 'used' couch because the thought of someone else drooling (or God knows what else) on it grosses me out. One of the selling points of this one though was that all the cushion covers zip off so you can put them in the washing machine. So today I started taking them off and holy cheeseballs it was a major chore. I thought it would only take me a few minutes but these little boogers did not want to come out. They are really full feather cushions so they were really cozy in there and didn't want to budge. After pulling and twisting and struggling for a long time I finally realized that the easiest way way to bend them in half so there was some slack on the sides. Even though this worked it still took me quite awhile to get them off and I even broke a sweat. Pfwew!!

They are all in the washer now and when they are done I am going to steam clean the pillows, the cushion covers and the whole darned couch. After that I'll scotch guard it, Febreze it, and by the time you know it it will be like a brand new couch. The only dreadful thought is how the heck I'm going to get these plump cushions back in their covers. Ugh

One of the least favorite things a photographer (not that I condiser myself a "photographer") likes to hear is "say cheese!". That is the worst. Nothing like getting a cheeseball grin from a kid you are shooting. lol
