Ok, so I forgot to take a picture on Thursday the 8th which would have been my 8th picture in the YIP thing. Sooo...since I spent that evening scanning lots of pictures, I'm going to use one not TAKEN on the 8th but SCANNED on the 8th. I know, that's cheating, but it makes me feel better.
Anyway, this is what I believe to be the one and ONLY photo taken of me on my honeymoon back in September of 1990. Me and a goat. Not even me and Bubba together.
Also, only I would wear dress shoes to the zoo. And man did I ever need my hair cut!

I decided to take out the sharp optics last week: my Fotoman 612 camera with a Fujinon 65mm SWD.
Kodak Ektar, converted to black and white in Photoshop.
You see what Chewbacca did? He's sneaking in on C3P0's pass. And I bet he got in at half-price, too.
("Thank you! OK, now let's bring out your headliner...")
You said it: whoof. Some people are CO-MITT-ED to costuming. That costume represents a lot of time, a lot of money, and a lot of discomfort. He wasn't done after he put together his Chewbacca costume: he decided to take a victory lap by putting together a partially-disassembled '3P0 for the full Episode 5 effect.
Many folks truly become part of a community. There are certain people who turn up in lots of these photo albums from lots of these events. I'm sure that this guy didn't go to all of this trouble just for one con. After some small, out-of-town tryouts to work out some last-minute kinks, he took the show on the road, touring the big stages.
If 3P0's head and arm aren't servoed up to move, I bet that's next on this person's list.
My sister helped me turn her kitchen into a Japanese bar for this shoot. She's pretty awesome.

This has actually been sitting and waiting on my shelf for some time. I am finally getting around to making my boys their quilts. Cheater Quilt Fabric can be found here:

It was one of those floating card games always held at the makeshift warehouses all over town where one could also buy knock-off designer handbags. I was not big on the actual game, when I played I paid no attention to the cards but used my powers of observation to play off each player's tell. This gave the air of something odd going on with me and it was a pain in the ass for Mister Jimmy to have to explain to an angry newcomer that I was "OK". I just liked observing all those that found their way to the game, the desperate, the sportsmen and those who were bad at it but liked rubbing elbows with what was obviously a different strata of society and figured losing a few hands of cards was the price to pay. Mister Jimmy never minded me being there just to watch, he liked hearing me talk and after the game we would shoot the breeze as the girls cleaned up.
I notice one of the waitresses intentionally make her eyes go dead which she thought would be more natural than the upturned icon stare, as she took one of the players orders. Mister Jimmy came out in his cream colored suit, welcoming everyone to the night's game and writing in the air with his cigarettes smoke.
She was dealing now at the corner table which I could see from my seat. A tingling at the base of my neck, when you see something is off but your conscious mind has not caught up yet to tell you. She was feeding cards to the player whose face she had avoided earlier. Bad luck for both of them, at the table was one of the few newcomers of the night. He caught on at about the same time I did, smashing his glass over the guys head at the very moment I was saying "Ah-Ha" to myself. He then grabbed the girl by the wrist and kicked open the closest door, which unfortunately for him lead to the roof. It was all high drama which could have been avoided if he had kept his manners, after all this was not The States, Mister Jimmy would have done right by him. As it was he depressed the little brass button below the bar, I nodded to him as this meant I had to leave, for no matter how many years I have lived here, I was still just a visitor to his country in the eyes of the officials.

Well first of all I have to admit I had to cheat on this one. The photos used in this collage were not taken today because everybody I wanted to add was not available. Now for Brian, from the start back in early 2007 he has been an inspiration and my flickr mentor. I happened on Flickr by accident and first fell on a site with two beautiful young girls and a handsome young man. They were named at the time Legs, Bop and Mr. T. Long story short, Brian is the reason I’m on Flickr. He was my very first contact and his witty photo titles and comments at times made me LMAO and want to contribute. He suggested actions and techniques and when I got my first DSLR he gave me tips on how to use it. I lived with anticipation of what he would do next from pool fun shots, food, flowers, squirrels, cats and dogs, and for the holly grail of family antics “Febugust”
Check that one out if you’re feeling brave!
Anyway I got to know this wonderful guy and his family from photos and correspondence. I was working for Boeing at the time and had to go to Dover, Delaware to do some modifications to our C-17s based there. I knew I was close to PA and there was no way in hell I would not meet with Brian. I called and asked if he would mind if I stopped by. His answer, “we’ll leave a light on for you” This starting to be a book! I drove to his home was met at the door by the now famous Bopper. I was welcomed by the entire family including his beauty of a wife Ms R. and got to have photo with Jay and treated to a impromptu bbq. Cutting this short, I fell in love with his entire family and count them as family. Brian welcomes any flickr friend to his home and will go to any length to make you welcome. I am privileged to know these people.
After taking hundred of shots similar to this, this one popped for me. There's not a lot of processing here, just raised Shadows a good bit and raised Blacks to get a pleasing balance between detail and black. The condition of the cattail adds a bit as does the wonderful Colorado evening light. The light is so good here, most of the time, that I feel like I'm cheating.
Jo Ann, going over some bills... Isn't she the cutest thing with 'em perched on the bridge of her nose? It really is a bit of a pain to have to pull them out to read menus and price tags, but hey - that's life!

Cheat. Sorry.
I'm being way too lazy with my 365 lately. But it's getting so warm out so outdoor photoshoots are coming back!
Plus I'm going downtown tomorrow so that should be fun.
I have a slight obsession with Electric Feel by MGMT right now. js.
