"Was gonna workout...but then I smelled the aroma from the local pizzeria. So, my cheat day came early..." xoxo
This was the point of the long bus ride and the end of two hours on the train. The High Falls is horseshoe-shaped, and over 100ft wide, falling 20ft into a large pool below. Like all the rivers and creeks that we had seen previously it was low in volume due to a serious lack of rain. Still very beautiful! Unlike my part mountain goat buddy Anita, I did not go on the slippery rocks to get the view from head on but stayed in safety at the side. LOL There were 65 stairs down to this point, most of them covered in damp, slippery leaves. The only way to see the falls is by hiking in or taking the train. We were allowed about 45 minutes here to enjoy this wonderful place and then back to the train for the 2 hour trek back down and out of the mountains. It was well worth the long ride on the bus, juggling lunch between the moving cars and the super early start to the day! :)
You want a quick way to get me leavin', that's cheatin' and lies!

Intended to get up at silly O Clock and head down to the Door in the morning. Disappointingly the forecast is for clear blue sky. Instead I have decided to cheat, post one from another day and stay in bed. I hope you enjoy.
Lately I, I've been rolling with the tide
It swept me away, to another place
Lord knows, you ain't seen enough of me
Why did I fall asleep, on a love so deep?
I fell apart when I couldn't see
I was cheating on me
Broke my own heart, when I couldn't see
I was cheating on me
Our love is like a fading melody
A song I should've sung, a note I should've reached
A loneliness, that I find hard to describe
Stayed up so many nights, I could've been by your side
I fell apart when I couldn't see
I was cheating on me
Broke my own heart, when I couldn't see
I was cheating on me
Why don't you cry?
You live this life
You live this life
I fell apart when I couldn't see
I was cheating on me
Broke my own heart, when I couldn't see
I was cheating on me
Cheating on me
I fell apart when I couldn't see
I was cheating on me
Broke my own heart, when I couldn't see
I was cheating on me
I've been casting some envious glances at the butterfly pics I'm seeing posted on flickr, especially those from back in Somerset. I've been very lucky with what I've been able to encounter here in Wales however I do miss those Somerset wildflower meadows.
So here's one from last year.....which is cheating a bit I know.

Found this feather and threw it into calm waters to help with the shot. Not something I would normally do, but......

OK Flickr this is your vote.
Let me know if you think that Photoshopping your images is cheating or is it legit use of digital pixels?
Are they born to be abused or are they to be loved as they are native - unsharpened, burned, colour adjusted etc.?
Over to you!
P.s. my photostream may suggest that you get a feeling where my answer lies ;-)
I still haven't risen to the challenge of capturing what clouds like this really look like. This is an exaggeration.
There were reports of a Great Gray Owl up north that I had to check out. Last year there was also one just a tad more North which was the first in over twenty years. To have two years in a row of Great Gray Owls in Northern California was just baffling news and a very rare!
I drove four hours North with a friend and we were very welcomed by a very kind and hospitable owner. She allowed a small group of us onto her property and we had the pleasure of photographing this majestic owl.
The first day the owl stayed fairly high and he sat stagnant at a few spots for long periods of time. He studied different holes on the ground and we all tried to guess where he might fly down to. I gambled and cheated left and knelt down based on what my intuition was resonating. I chose correctly as I was knelt down and tracked him on his way towards me. He was probably 10-15 feet away from me as he ripped his prey from the hole and carried it away into a Redwood tree where he took the time to eat it. This prey was large he couldn't just gulp it so he had to downsize it by picking it to pieces before he swallowed it.
We had a very action filled second day and came away with great memories and company.
We were the last group of people she allowed onto her property as she expressed to us that she didn't want to handle anymore large groups. We were grateful for her hospitality and the opportunity she allowed us to have.
