I've been casting some envious glances at the butterfly pics I'm seeing posted on flickr, especially those from back in Somerset. I've been very lucky with what I've been able to encounter here in Wales however I do miss those Somerset wildflower meadows.
So here's one from last year.....which is cheating a bit I know.

Spring-azure butterfly (Celastrina ladon) taking nectar from the base of a Bluebead lilly flower (Clintonia borealis) and thereby by-passing the pollination mechanism.
The wild flower was photographed in situ taking care to avoid disturbance.

Cheating, The Fix is in
Cheating in horse racing is as old as the game itself. It is a much more complicated issue than it appears. Although it occurs in horse racing, when you think about it, it really shouldn’t tarnish the sport more than it does any other sport, and various other money on the line endeavours. Let us not think for one minute cheating is restricted to horse racing and does not permeate its way into other sports and businesses. When money is involved cheating will creep in at some point. It always has, and probably always will.

A fix is a a term used to describe the act of a drug addict taking the drug they are addicted to as the result of a physical or psychological addiction. It is referred to as a fix because it stops withdrawal symptoms and makes the user believe they are better, or fixed, in the short term.
