"Chasing Light" - Basking in the last of the morning light. A simple capture of light and autumn warmth on my journey through nature.

Was doing some digging and reprocessing of some raws from my hardrive. This is from ten years ago at Joshua Tree National Park. Chasing light at cholla cactus garden.

Don't ask me why, I have no clue, but apparently the fog that comes very often cover San Francisco's coastline has been named Karl and last night I was chasing it as night was falling over the Mount Tamalpais state park area.

Was caught by a storm on my way back from Chicago and after trying more than 20 times while driving, finally I could capture my first thunder shot! :) It was difficult to take it as we were inside car and my camera battery almost dying, hope to take better shots next time.

Cannock Chase - designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) - is in Staffordshire, England. We recently decided to explore this area in more detail.

An old shot from Peggy's Cove...cropped to 8x10

The female below had enough being chased by the male (Gray Ghost) and turned suddenly towards him. That was enough to stop him. Well, she is bigger! Cowichan Bay. Vancouver Island.

Cannock Chase is an area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB) in Staffordshire, UK. Geologically, it is mostly underlain by conglomerates and sandstones of the Triassic Period (with some Carboniferous mudstones, siltstones and sandstones in its southern parts).

Yesterday morning I was up early getting ready to go pick up Ashley for a day out of shooting. When I started driving I noticed the clouds were so low in the sky. It felt like driving down a corridor where clouds replaced the ceiling. As I approached the canyon that I had to drive through to get to her, the fog became so thick I could barely see the car in front of me. I pulled off the road at the first chance I got, threw on my dress, set up my tripod and camera, and did what I felt in my heart was right to do. I didn't have an idea planned, but instantly I knew what would make me feel most fulfilled.

Shooting lasted 5 minutes and by the time I was finished I was soaked in mud - the bottom of the dress, my sneakers, the jumper I wore underneath. I felt bad because she was going to use that dress later in the day. When I arrived to pick her up I was warmly greeted with new shoes and a dryer to put the dress in, and all was well...or...all was *right*. Everything was in it's right place.

A spectacular sunrise over Cranborne Chase last week. In spite of the promised mist, it was still worth the early start.

A photographer stands on the edge of the Higger Tor escarpment and the silhouette just reminds me of the phrase "chasing the light". Well I certainly got the light on this occasion as the sun dipped over the western horizon in the Peak District. I was precariously perched on the Kit Kat rocks looking along the escarpment as there was a photography workshop taking up the usual positions for sunset when I arrived there. So I was forced to improvise! These book end shaped rocks normally feature in sunrise shots as they are lit up by the dawn light. You can make out some other photographers on the far ridge near the setting sun.

My tripod was set at a strange angle just to get this shot and I was balancing shakily to utilise the live view on my camera. Good job it wasn't too windy up there. I have posted a portrait view of this scene, but I like this one and the photographer on the ridge helps make it more poignant.

Regretting his past follies, Prince of Crows flew through many continents, traversed through different magical worlds before stumbling upon the location of his beloved wife…After battling many storms and hunted by thunders, Prince finally collapsed gratefully into the warm embrace of Lady Crow. Never again will he risk his happiness in exchange for a seat in the throne of Power.

(sorry ppl - last one I promise;)....)

One black skimmer chasing another is a common sight at a skimmer nesting colony. Unless there is a fish to be stolen, the objective of the chasing skimmer seems to be to "bite" the chased skimmer, usually on the tail feathers.
