On the same night as yesterday's upload, the light was still gorgeous as we parked and rushed into the park.
Humpback Whales in Alaska. Overcast day but the boat got us as close as they could to several whales. They are huge. The guide put a microphone in the water so we could listen to them in addition to viewing. A very fun day.
A lovely splash of sunlight falls across the beautiful rolling landscape of Cranborne Chase, once the hunting ground of royalty.
I went out for a sunrise shoot recently and nothing happened because of the lack of clouds, but, this seagull saved the day by putting on a bit of a show while looking for something to eat at Shelly Beach.

Storm Chasing Video from afternoon / evening on Flickr Click Here
Just to the west of Odessa Nebraska...
First few shots of the day as this already severe warned storm was approaching from the northwest of my current location. Got in alignment of where I thought I had the best possible chance for pics & video. An open view with no power lines. Which is rare. Even in Nebraska.
There were actually 2 storm cells. Both were severe warned. I was on the outer boundaries of the western storm. The eastern storm was going to eventually merge with this storm & become one.
The lean or tilt in this storm meant business. Nothing to take away its energy for doing its building process. Rotation was imminent, though question was would this storm produce a tornado?

It's the thing to do when they come out to play.
When it's a fresh new year....a fresh new day...
and a few old possibilities still manage to feel new again.
Not sure where it's leading...but 2017 is going to be nothing short of interesting.
Happy New Year! Hope it brings light your way.
A diverted Cross Country service is hauled through Bloxwich, on the Chase Line, by Class 47 No. 47186 on 23rd September 1984.
Bloxwich signal box manages the busy level crossing, made more difficult as it is situated on the junction of four roads which on occasion causes traffic congestion. Leading off to left is the spur into the Spelter Works. Copyright Photograph bJohn Whitehouse - all rights reserved

"Chasing the dreams". Three photos taken in two different states (California, Oregon +that landmass to the right is Nevada) and one province - British Columbia - all came together into the final picture that carries somewhat important to me message. Children dream the boldest dreams. If I hadn't followed through with some of my childhood (or childish) dreams I would be much less happy than I am right now. Chase your dreams, people :)

Little girl was shot in the studio with four lights:
- Medium soft silver PLM with the diffusion fabric to her left and in front of her
- Medium softbox camera right to fill in the shadows
- 7" reflector with 10 degrees grid camera right to highlight the hair
- (not visible here) 7" reflector with 40 degrees grid on the background for easier extraction later.
