Project Project Runway

Challenge 1: Create a look to show who you are as a designer

Designer: Brie

Model: Lily

I really enjoy vintage designs, so I took those as my inspiration, the fabric here really helped, and then tweaked the design to make it a bit fashion forward. Keeping in mind that my girls will be playing with these fashions, I didn't want to go too risque, but I think I did a fairly decent job.

I didn't make a potato sack or just toss the fabric on my model and send her down the runway, so at least I'm safe this week. I even made a little headscarf to complement the skirt.

steel wire and found object necklace- handmade steel wire chain and hand painted found object brooch with vintage charms and beads- looks heavy - but steel wire chain is really comfortable and supports lots of charms

It was a chilly day on the deck & competition for the food was fierce, even though there was plenty for everyone. I hadn't seen the black-phase squirrel around for some time, so I did my best to get some good shots of him. In this one, he was challenging one of the gray guy's right to the peanut feeder. Seen in Columbia County, New York, USA on February 1, 2009.

Scavenger hunt challenge song: Grandma got run over by a reindeer

Now we're all so proud of Grandpa,

He's been taking this so well.

See him in there watching football,

Drinking beer and playing cards with cousin Mel

This is a Parker Brothers game copyright 1937, 1947, 1958, 1965.

It is very similar to the French card game Mille Bornes.

The Aviation Challenge is an annual get together of regional schools/colleges maths/science year 12 students for an introduction to the world of aviation and a fun day of competition building gliders.

From as far north as Berwick to Richmond in the south and Darlington in the west, schools/colleges turned up in teams of 4 (+member of staff) to build a glider.

We hope these budding scientists may be inspired to join the BEng Aerospace programme and HNC/D Aeronautical Engineering programmes.

Technical delivery and hosted by Hartlepool College of Further Education; lunch and programme administration by the Advanced mathematics Support Programme; Prizes and materials costs covered by Teesside University.
