The Secondary school at Buttershaw has had a number of name changes since its opening in 1956.
In 1956 it opened as Buttershaw Secondary School , since then it has been Buttershaw Comprehensive, Buttershaw Upper School and Buttershaw High School. Currently it enjoys the name of Buttershaw Business and Enterprise College.
The original 1956 buildings were extended in the early 1960. Further building work continued during the 70’s 80’ and 90’s.
In 2008 the new building was opened and the old building demolished.
we started homeschool this past week. Well, we've done two out of four days so far this week, so 'start' is almost too strong a word. We decided we wanted to get a little ahead in the face of an uncertain fall and a very busy May where Daniel works.
I didn't feel like starting the science curriculum in August, though, working inside with batteries and magnets. So we have the Wildflower Challenge. If my kids and I can successfully identify 50 wildflowers, we'll go out for ice cream. Another 50, and we'll get ice cream again.
BigE proved he could ID flowers very nearly by himself on the computer (he found this cool site) but we all agree that the books are quicker and easier.
we still don't know the identity of the plant in the foreground.

Here is my (blind) string for challenge 84 and what I made of it.
I really liked this challenge!
Thank you Laura.
My challenge for the next few weeks is to try and get some good recipes for this crock pot. I love the concept of coming home to a warm meal during the winter but so far I am 0/2. I have about four recipes that I know will work: pot roast, red beans and rice, stuffed peppers and beef soup. I work a long day and discovered that my crockpot with a timer that goes to warm overcooks EVERYTHING. So I am going back to this. So FLICKR peeps email me what you have: buckchick1@aol.com
Let's hope the internet thing comes through for me or we may starve over here.
High school and university students competed in the 2018 Human Exploration Rover Challenge event at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. Students came from across the U.S. as well as several foreign countries such as Brazil, Germany, India, and Mexico. This event, which is normally a 2 day event, was shortened to 1 day in 2018 due to adverse weather conditions.

2010 Dairy Challenge. Nobis Dairy Farm. Andrea Bommarito photo.
Every year, one Michigan dairy farm is selected to host the annual MSU Dairy Challenge contest. Farm owners work with students competing to answer questions about the farm and explain on-farm management practices. This year’s event was hosted by Nobis Dairy Farm, owned by brothers and 2006 MSU Dairy Farmer of the Year Award winners Ken and Larry Nobis and their families, in St. Johns.
