The blue flag is up, and a CN employee busies himself by changing the brake shoes on SD40-2W #5272. Once the work is complete and the blue flag is dropped, the pair of aging SD's will spend the afternoon switching the large pulp mill in town. Change is on the horizon, as Cando is scheduled to take over the switching of the mill next month, and the familiar sight of older SD's in the valley will be replaced by a pair of SD38-2's

In 2019, the Royal Canadian Air force was in progress of buying CH-47 Chinook to have airlift capability in Afghanistan.
But there was an urgent need and the process was too long so they chose to rent 4 Mil Mi-17V-5 from a Toronto company that was operating in Kandahar. The aircraft was operated by 427 Special Operations Aviation Squadron and used during special operations.
In 2011 they were withdrawn because it drew critics in the media.

Barratt's owners significantly reduced the size of the business at the end of the school summer term in July 2021 and stopped operating out of the Sandbach OC..
However, these coaches were still parked-up in their Sandbach yard in late September 2021. Left to right:

A Volvo B10M/Jonckeere Mistral on lay-over whilst the driver has a well-earned bacon roll!
I had previously photographed this coach back in 2008 on rail replacement duty, but by the second time I caught-up with it, was probably in the 'autumn' of its operational life after 26 years front line duty.
