I found this great recipe for Cauliflower Rice in My Rice Cooker Cookbook and I tweaked it to give it more flavour by putting in some chopped-up veggies. I also added some dried tomato that was infused with oil. This turned out good. Next time I'm going to add some stronger seasonings than they recommended in the recipe. All in all, this was quite tasty and a lower carb dish than regular rice.

Good to eat if you don't mind a mouthful of grit, very tricky to clean!
Found at the base of conifers, which is where this one is, but as you see surrounded by american oak leaves fallen from nearby ornamentals.

I made a spicy cauilflower soup, which was perfect for a cold day.
I didn't follow a recipe (hardly ever do), but I started by softening a chopped onion with cumin, corriander and chilli power in olive oil. Then added chopped cauliflower, celery and potato, salt and pepper, chicken stock and milk. Once all cooked, whizzed with a hand blender, and that was it, done.
This is Romanesco cauliflower. I had wanted to photograph this before, but missed my opportunity. This was the last one of the day at Barzini's on Broadway and 91st St in Manhattan's Upper West Side.
This has become a particular favourite for eating. They are not that common but they are really tasty, despite the rather off-putting appearance. They are full of holes and passages that many bugs treat like home. This one had several millipedes, a centipede, some beetles and wood lice in it so they need pulling apart and thorough washing. They are worth the effort tho.
I have become much more interested in fungi, particularly for foraging. These are uncertain times for the availability of food in the shops so I am trying to become more knowledgeable about wild food.
