what a weird one...there's green, purple and I do believe there's yellow.

There was bacon in the soup, then we garnished it with more bacon, cilantro, green onions, and gruyere. YUM. It was to be paired with a Grenache but I could only find a shiraz-grenache blend.

Orange cauliflowers (and green and purple ones) are the result of selective cross-breeding.

I am totally in love with this recipe. I got a good deal on a big head of cauliflower and vaguely remembered bookmarking this cheese filled recipe. I got some Gruyere to add to my constantly stocked parmesan, and tried my hand at the mother sauces, making a roux and bechamel. I loved it. I couldn't stop eating it. I would suggest adding even more breadcrumbs to the mix on top than Smitten Kitchen suggests from Ina Garten's amazing recipe.

Graduate student Jose Samano and current, recent or future Fresno State students Charles Cochran, Janet Robles, Kylie Baker, Liscia Adati havest cauliflower in Samano's research project from the CIT experimental plot. The project examined yield, biomass and nitrate leaching potential for the cropping system subjected at two fertilizer types (organic and conventional), and three fertilizer rates. The project is important because the leached nitrate from crop fields have caused contamination of aquifers used as drinking water sources. Young children and pregnant women can face serious health issues when drinking water with an elevated content of nitrates. Photo by Geoff Thurner, Copyright 2015.
