Such a beautiful evening. I love this place!!! The wind was non-existant but the current was a little strong. It is hard to frame a shot when your stable platform, ie your kayak keeps drifting downstream. Still, I think I got! Took a couple of tries to be sure.

These catamarans would just head right to shore and drop people off at either the Royal Hawaiian or the Moana Surfrider.
On our second to last night, we decided to try the bar at the Moana Surfrider in Waikiki. We enjoyed this place much better than the Royal Hawaiian. I felt the Royal Hawaiian was just a place to be seen while the Moana Surfrider was much more laid back and an awesome place to enjoy the sunset.
The Moana was the first of the hotels to be constructed on Waikiki. It was completed in 1901.

Brother Hurley and Brother Pugh, two monks of Katharon Monastery on Ithaca created a prototype catamaran hull many hundreds of years ago. Being made of stone, it lacked buoyancy and was hard to move through the water - one of the over-sized propeller shafts can be seen in the background. Apart from minor problems like a tendency to sink and the requirement for a nearby much larger vessel to provide steam to turn the propellers, the design was very successful. You can see direct descendants of this heroic prototype in the harbours of Greek islands to this day although modern versions are usually made of glass fibre, a change of which the Brothers would not have approved..
