This nice catamaran is seen here departing Ajaccio Tino Rossi Marina, on 30/07/2011. It was one of many entering and leaving this marina which is renowned for prestigious nautical events that find a harmonious blend of assets, including technical capabilities, heritage and unequalled authenticity in the heart of the Imperial City of Ajaccio.
Ajaccio is a French commune, prefecture of the department of Corse-du-Sud, and head office of the Collectivité territoriale de Corse (capital city of Corsica). It is also the largest settlement on the island. It is located on the west coast of the island of Corsica, 210 nautical miles (390 km) southeast of Marseille. The original city went into decline in the Middle Ages, but began to prosper again after the Genoese built a citadel in 1492 to the south of the earlier settlement. After the Corsican Republic was declared in 1755 the Genoese continued to hold several citadels, including Ajaccio, until the French took control of the island. The inhabitants of the commune are known as Ajacciens (men) or Ajacciennes (women). The most famous of these is Napoleon Bonaparte, who was born in Ajaccio in 1769, and whose ancestral home, the Maison Bonaparte, is now a museum. Other dedications to him in the city include Ajaccio Napoleon Bonaparte Airport. Source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ajaccio.

The artificial grass on this catamaran caught my eye as I walked across the Adur Ferry Bridge today. I hadn't noticed it before - perhaps it had only just been lawn-ched :-)
Green #39 in 101 pictures and a boat/ship #6 in 52 in 2015
A fast catamaran ferry in the Transtejo fleet passes Praça Comercio on its way to the Cais Sodré ferry terminal. The polythene-shrouded scaffolding in the middle of the square encloses the statue that gives the square its English name of Black Horse Square. Just to the left of the statue is the arch that leads through to a smart shopping area. The square is the departure point for several tourist transport services, including the special antique red and white tourist trams, one of which can just be seen, with a modern articulated tram on route 15 passing behind it. Further to the right is an open-top bus in the Carris fleet, with an ordinary city bus passing behind it. The trams and buses are best seen if the picture is viewed in its "large 2048" form.
Red Funnel hydrofoil "Shearwater 6" in seen on Southampton Water near Hamble on 6 August 1988. She was built by Cantière Navale Rodriguez and entered service in May 1982. She served the company until displaced by high speed catamaran in 1998. These hydrofoils were an exciting method of crossing between Southampton and the Isle of Wight but their success meant that larger vessels were needed and these did not provide the same experience.
On the beach at the Hague, Netherlands. The local beach is full of activity: Sailing, para-sailing, swimmers, walkers. A nice respite from the city.
The guys on the the right and 2nd left had brought their friend, a victim of a nasty illness years ago, out to Barbados for a holiday - he was probably the fastest swimmer of all of us.
Inspired by a couple of my contacts, I tried an abstract image using Niks bi-color filters. This is actually netting on a catamaran's bow taken in the early morning sunlight.

i taught myself to sail on this yellow catamaran in mazatlan....
accidently!....
one day i took it out solo....
sailed across the channel to
this beautiful deserted island....
and was forced to learn real quick how to tack back
and forth in order to get back to the mainland!....
i was getting a little worried at first....
but soon figured it out and made sure i ducked every time
the boom came back over to the other side.....
nineteen years old and invinceable....
it was my first of many trips to this beautiful coast
