36 casts in 2 1/2 hours, which is pretty good throughput given that I had a very large number of failure / remelt / recast cycles. These moulds are brilliantly temperamental - they will refuse point-blank to cast for a solid 45 minutes, will suddenly get in the swing and cast beautifully for a solid hour, then refuse again. You just have to be patient and go with the flow - if I went really scientific, kept the moulds in hot ovens until the moment of casting, experimented to find the optimum pre-cast temperature for each individual mould, it could improve. But seriously, this stuff is handmade, it's not science, so I make the decision to just go with the flow. If I have a day when nothing casts, then the universe simply didn't want anything to cast that day, and it's a message for me to sit down and read a good book instead.
Note - no spoons. Yesterday was a spoons day, and spoons are the most temperamental of all casts. Little buggers. You can't do 2 spoons days on the trot - the gods would get very ratty indeed.
