I've been to Smash in Markham several times and really enjoyed the food. I was happy to see them open a location in Whitby, a little closer to home.

Thanks to Yelp, I was able to enjoy this delicious complimentary Chicken and Rib Platter, served with Mac 'n' Cheese.

The boneless chicken had a nice crunch to it and the ribs came off the bone fairly easily, although I would have preferred it a bit more tender. The accompanying mac 'n' cheese was nice and creamy. Everything was very flavourful.

It was also a large serving! As much as I tried, I couldn't finish it. At least I don't have to go scrounging for my next meal!

Pork Bone Soup was on sale this past weekend at the newly opened Owl of Minerva in Pickering. At only $5.99, it was a bargain not to be missed!

Besides the rich broth and very meaty pork bones, it includes kimchi, pickled radishes, and rice. This was so good!

This restaurant is close to home and will definitely be one of my favourite spots!

This is the second of two Rib Steaks that I got a great deal on! It was under $6.00!!!

The first one turned out great in the air fryer so, of course, I thought I'd do this one the same way, even though it was a bit thinner. While it wasn't bad, it was a lot closer to medium-well/well-done. It was still tender!

Now I know that I should only do thick steaks in the air fryer. The frozen fries were done in the air fryer in just eight minutes. Crispy!

Guyanese Pepperpot, a National dish normally served at Christmas, is a rich stew with Amerindian roots.

This dish can be made with a variety of meats, usually bony cuts of beef, pork, goat, or whatever is available. The key ingredient is cassareep, a dark sauce that has the appearance of molasses. Other ingredients include garlic, cinnamon, cloves, and sugar.

Cassareep, derived from cassava, has preservative qualities that allow this dish to survive without being refrigerated. Clean utensils must be used every time and the pot should be brought to a boil every day. I just store it in the fridge.

This version was made with beef shank and pork hocks. It's bony but I like the texture and flavour. Almost anything goes.

Like most stews, this tastes better the next day, or the day after. It may not be pretty but it certainly tastes pretty darn good!

Crispy Chicken Skin is a Filipino treat that is just so delicious!

It's been a while since I've had this and it was as yummy as I remembered! I used to love the pork rinds, and I still do, but after having this chicken skin, it's my new favourite. It's lighter, crispier, and far less fatty.

The only place I know of that sells the chicken version is Tagpuan, which is not exactly close to home. Is there anywhere closer to Pickering that makes/sells this?

It's hard to beat a good Chinese BBQ meal. My favourite combo is BBQ Duck and Roast Pork with rice and vegetables. Ho Ho BBQ in Scarborough is one of my favourite places to get this. Their food is so good and really cheap! All of this was only $6.00, including a drink and taxes!

There are two other Chinese BBQ shops in the same plaza, plus a small food court and a larger restaurant, all Asian. If you're around Midland and McNicoll, check them out on the SE corner.

Ackee and Saltfish, Jamaica's National Dish, makes a great meal, especially with Fried Dumplings. This version of the dish was started with a little bacon in the pan, using the fat to cook all the other ingredients. Everything is better with bacon!

Freshland never disappoints with their great value cooked foods. Their food court recently got revamped, separating it from the supermarket with only one way in and out. Some of the food offerings have also changed, with new vendors and new dishes. My favourite, however, remains the large Chinese food offerings, with something for everybody!

Their Noodles and Fried Sticky Rice remain great values, especially the noodles, always packed full for only $4.99. The rice, cooked with Chinese sausages and egg, is only $3.59. The Braised Pork, $10.99, might be a bit plain looking, but is very flavourful and goes well with almost any kind of vegetable. They were all quite yummy!

Sometimes I get cravings for dim sum at all times of the day and it's just not convenient to go out and get it. KJ Foods makes frozen versions of shao mai and a variety of dumplings.

While these are not as big as restaurant versions, they're easy to prepare and taste pretty good. They're also a lot cheaper and very easy to prepare whenever the craving hits.

I got these at No Frills but they're available at most supermarkets.

I saw some frozen Chicken Nuggets on sale at a great price so I picked up a box for those days when I don't feel like cooking.

Today turned out to be one of those days. I just didn't feel like planning any menu, or seasoning any food. It was so convenient to just pop a few of these tasty nuggets into the air fryer and then enjoy it!

I should probably go buy some more while they're on sale!

BBQ Fried Chicken? Hmmm, what's that? It's delicious, that's what it is! The chicken is fried crispy and then dipped in a sweet BBQ sauce while maintaining its crisp texture. It's served with rice and peas with jerk gravy and coleslaw.

Everything I've had from Yardies has been delicious so when I saw this new dish on their menu, I had to try it. I was not disappointed. Deeelicious!

I had a craving for wings so I whipped up a batch, with fries and tossed salad. From turning on the fire to seasoning the wings to plating the finished product, it took a total of forty minutes! Not bad, eh?

It's been a while since I've had Korean food and I've never really attempted to cook it before but here is my version of Bulgogi Pork. I actually didn't have all the ingredients so let's call it bulgogi-inspired. It turned out better than I expected! Delicious!

I have always liked lasagna but, before having it from Mission Lasagna, Ballarò's offspring, I guess I never really knew what it was supposed to taste like. Wow!

These Pork Kabobs, smothered in BBQ sauce, were done in the air fryer and turned out great! They were moist, delicious, and cooked in only 15 minutes!

The potatoes were also done in the air fryer and took only 8 minutes.

The asparagus and heirloom carrots were sauteed in butter on the stovetop. I love these veggies!

A simple salad was a good start to this meal!

The last Veal T-Bone I had was pretty good so I went back to the market and bought more. At 3.97/lb, I probably should have stocked up my freezer.

This time, I pan-seared it and had it with roasted potatoes, carrots, and broccoli. It turned out well but made a bit of a mess on my stovetop.

I came across this (frozen) meat pie at a local market for $1.00 and decided to try it. Not bad at all, even though I overcooked it a bit. It was definitely worth the money.
