I love how this Owl Birthday Cake for a 1st birthday party turned out! The design is based on those owl party supplies that are so popular right now.
It's a 5"/8"/12" frosted in buttercream with fondant and gumpaste decorations.
The owl smash cake is a 5" cake and a 6" half ball cake. I carved it slightly for a little better shape. It's frosted in buttercream with a few candy decor pieces.
This cake was made for a young ladies 21st, she loves an artist called Julie Arkell and Pandora beads, so I've replicated the beads given to her by her loved ones in a gift box and handpainted the flowers in the style of Julie Arkell. The birthday message is 'stitched' on to show Melissa's love of textiles.
So thank you to Melissa's mum for asking me to do this, it was a pleasure xx
I loved making this cake, I loved discovering the work of Julie Arkell and I had a very thearaputic morning painting the flowers and making vintage buttons.
i made these cakes. i discovered in the far left chocolate-covered cupcake that mixing lots of milk with melted chocolate makes the icing too runny!
A beach scene cake for Stef's 50th birthday. Chocolate cake inside covered and decorated with fondant icing. {blogged}
Am having a busy month with photo work - am missing flickring and throwing blue paint over myself in the name of art.
This is from a shoot I did this w/e with a new company, Cracking Cupcakes. The cakes were yummy.
Have had a lovely morning meeting up with a flickr friend and talking about photography all morning. I love flickr for the people you meet and things you learn. Awww, you guys.

Here is a basic sponge recipe, which uses eggs. Its softness, and the rich flavour of vanilla are very enjoyable, and you will find this sponge suitable for plenty of marvelous creations. www.hungryforever.com/recipe/plain-sponge-cake-recipe/
Inspired by my dear friend Marie's creation :) It's a light hazelnut cake, with more hazelnuts than flour in it, brushed with Frangelico (hazelnut liqueur).
I made a lighter (read:lazier ;-)) filling... it's whipped cream with a little Piemonte hazelnut paste and homemade hazelnut praline added. Sprinkled with some praline for crunch effect...Thanks Marie for the inspiration :)
Happy weekend everyone!
