Last submission to Ming Thein's black and white challenge.This was hard to choose, as I had a bunch of pictures, in various styles, with various subjects, and all are equally... decent. In the end I settled for this one, it's one of my favorite pictures in general. The horse, Chianti, thankfully stood pretty still, but still I had to bump up the ISO to 800 (on the 1000D that's already too much to be usable, most of the time) to be able to hand-hold it. Good thing that Lightroom can do wonders when it comes to noise reduction..

Taken last year at Dinas Cross when on holiday in Pembrokeshire. At the end of the day this catamaran named 'More Mayhem' was brought ashore.
Taken with my Canon Telephoto Zoom 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM EF Lens and framed in Photoshop.

I tried to give the photo a feeling of a Japanese woodprint (Sumi-e).
The title 'Laurens Janszoon Coster' refers to the person we Dutch like to think of as the inventer of (book) printing. No offence to the real inventer, the German Johannes Gutenberg.

I toned the individual colours to b&w in order to keep the contrast between the white and the yellow areas. I thought the b&w still was a little bit dull, so I made some adjustments with charcole. These adjustments resulted in an allmost white high key image wich I blended (vived light) with a black layer.
This made me lose the contrast in the screw cap, so I copied the cap out of the 'whité' charcole image and pasted it on top of the other layers. The white cap I blended in with the dissolve mode. The first time ever I used this mode.

A shot from last year for my last entry to the B&W challenge, I always liked this shot, but it didn't fit into any of last years projects, so I am very happy to finally use it to finish this one. Taken at Somerset Dam with a storm coming in.

Had to include my lovely black and white Bertie in the challenge, especially in these snowy surroundings, not much of it around here but we have one field nearby that does not seem to have defrosted at all.

High tide at the Mangrove Boardwalk at Wynnum. We had to go around a back way to get onto the boardwalk as our usual track was underwater. Found some beautiful reflections on the way though and lots of pesky mosquitoes.

This was for a B&W challenge.
Here I applied many many layers of grungy textures. Of course converting to B&W gave this much more drama.
