Here is a 2 hole button I made using some double helix luna 2 glass as a base with some clear encasing and some sparkly dichroic glass to give the impression of scales (not easy to see in the pic unfortunately). I made some silver glass murrini for the eye and sculpted the whole lot into a fish. I am really happy with this one and have finally realised that being a bit slap dash with the fins works much better than my usual fiddly unwieldy attempts!
I found these button people at two separate estate sales. Was creating fashionable button-people a fad craft in the 60's? Nobody wanted them but me!

Female metallic green sweat bee (Agapostemon sp.) on bachelor's button (Centaurea cyanus). Unfortunately unable to get a species ID on BugGuide. A bunch of them appeared all at once, though, so I'd bet they're the same species! This is one of three or four individuals photographed in sequence.
At the end of the photoshoot, Button Bear wanted to go back into his box and sleep.. but Sparkles cat had jumped in and fallen asleep!

This sign is now part of a display at the National Railway Museum in York.
This was a standard sign in the gents toilets at railway stations, certainly in the 1960s. I don't know if it was displayed in the ladies as well...
Scrap dichroic 1.5cm square with a clear top. Offset squares did not make a nice circle. Probably a bit too big.

A preview of the January Kunstkammer Gift. Don't know how Jellyfish gets around without a seeing-eye bird.
ETA: I see I have a couple of ne'er-do-wells staying up until all hours of the night watching my photostream! :D Happy New Year!
ETA 2: I think it qualifies for the jewelry pool as art jewelry. :)

I found this button in one of our new buildings and I have no idea what it's for. It's just on a little panel on the wall.
The elevators at Roppongi Hills run based on an inscrutable service algorithm but the blue lines indicate which floors are currently in service. If you accidentally press for a floor that's not allowed, the elevator chastises you.
A button to hold my arm on. Done today by the fabulous Ami Williams - amiwilliams.moonfruit.com

Bought at Kid 'n Ewe for Mr. Greenjeans. Nice lady, Robin Pascal. Too bad the purchase comes through as "perfect butt" on your Visa bill.
Painted Button-quail Turnix varia 17 – 23 cm
Painted Button-quail move on the spot in a circle as they feed, digging up the leaf litter and sometimes dirt as they go. This circular movement results in 'platelets' which are saucer sized and shaped bare patches of ground. It is a good way to find where they have been foraging. We thought it better not to disturb them just to get images of the platelets.
