Buttes New British Cemetery contains the remains of 2,108 Allied soldiers, the majority of whom are unknown. Over half of the burials are British; 564 are soldiers of the Australian Imperial Force, 162 soldiers of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force and five were from Canada. There are also 30 burials of unknown nationality.

Most of the dead were killed during 1917, but some date from fighting in the area in 1914, 1916 and 1918. A memorial service is held every year at the cemetery on Anzac Day, 25 April.

One of the grandest – and most photographed – landmarks in the United States, Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park is a sprawling, sandy preserve that spans the border between Arizona and Utah, bathing the region in rich red hues. Dominated by crimson mesas and surreal sandstone towers – some as tall as 1,000 feet – the area is also known for dramatic, mesmerizing lighting, with the sun illuminating the towers and casting long shadows on the valley floor.

Located inside the Navajo Nation – one of the largest Native American tribes in the United States – Monument Valley is around four hours northeast of Flagstaff, near the Four Corners area.

History & Nature

Now part of the Colorado Plateau, Monument Valley was once a simple flat basin. Over millions of years, layers of sediment piled onto the basin, which was eventually uplifted by pressure from below. Then, wind and water slowly eroded the plateau, leaving Cutler Red siltstone and its sand behind, forming the wonders of Monument Valley that we enjoy today.

As a representation of the Arizona Old West, Monument Valley has been a favorite shooting location for Hollywood filmmakers since the early days of the frontier genre – starting with Stagecoach, in which John Wayne rides horseback across the region. Today, Monument Valley is still a popular backdrop for films and postcards – as well as the ancestral home of the Navajo people, who still reside here today as part of the Navajo Nation, the largest Native American reservation in the United States.

These buttes are mentioned in Kelsey's book on the Paria. There are historic signatures that can be found, but you have to know where to look. I hiked around the Twin White Buttes on May 18, 2018; it's an easy short hike near a road, less than a mile loop. Next time I'd like to check out that colorful little cluster at top left.

This shot from a helicopter I took on April 9, 2019 just before sunset, as we were hurrying to get back to Kanab in strong winds; a bumpy ride!

If you explore outcrops like this, leave no trace. Do not disfigure rocks, take objects or mar signatures or petroglyphs; it's illegal and wrong. Let the next person enjoy it as you did.

SEE MORE ON FANSLY! One of Eden's favorite role plays is naughty girl and daddy themed storylines. Want to see where this story line takes this shoot? We did a fun video of her fully acting out a scene too. Wait till you see her bunny tail butt plug!!

Happy Beautiful Bug Butt Thursday everyone! Gonocerus acuteangulatus is a herbivorous species of true bug in the family Coreidae. It is commonly known as the Box Bug in the UK as it once only occurred in Box Hill in Surrey where it fed on box trees. Having expanded its range it now occurs widely in the south-east of England and beyond. It is exploiting different foodplants, and has been found on hawthorn, buckthorn, yew and plum trees. I most usually find it on Dog Roses, but on this occasion it was a bramble!

I was talking to the woman on the right (out-of-frame at the end of the leash), asking her if I could take a picture of her dog. As I was about to click, the other lady rudely stepped right in front of me and started petting it.

This photo is my revenge.

Beautiful patterned buttes at zabriskie point in Death Valley, CA. Patches of the distant range are illuminated by morning light.

The striations in the hills reminded my friend and I of Neapolitan ice cream, which sounded good after a couple days out camping.
