The world's smallest mountain range. About an hour north of Sacramento in Butte County, California
The buttes are the eroded remains of a volcano.
The twin buttes in southeast Idaho. More like maternal twins than identical ones, the butte on the right, east twin butte, is the core of a volcanic cone. The left one, known as middle butte, is a large monolithic block of crust pushed up by volcanic forces that never broke the surface.
I first heard that term from a wonderful friend at work who has six cats of her own.

Close to the target railway was a series of butts. From here I walked down the range to the firing points, which felt a bit odd.
I tried to get a nice photo of the dogs, but this is what I got.
The dog on the left's tail wagged so hard that it was a weapon. It made a thwaking noise when it hit something.
Tumbles was actually fully asleep and snoring when I took this photo. He was literally sleeping on Cheetoe's butt.
