This prickly pear propagates by breaking off and the pieces may take root under the proper conditions. This usually happens after a heavy rain. These pieces will be thrown away.

Mountain Soles is now offering factory authorized repairs on Tubbs and Atlas brand snowshoes for the Western United States. This is one of the first pairs to arrive in our shop! Unfortunately, this particular pair was not repairable.

My ride was cut short this evening. So I busted out the 55mm Micro f2.8 and played around with my broken bike chain.

My attention was drawn to this fence because it's broken. I'm wondering if the cause was reckless tourists or the weight of blowing sand. I also liked the shadows.

This streetlamp is still lying on the Jeff Davis neutral ground, now in two pieces. In most cities, a downed streetlamp gets fixed. In post-Katrina New Orleans, it's the least of our worries, and so it still lies there a year and a half later, and no one cares -- not even me.

With the winter, I have been parking at the Swinburne Lot at the end of the Eliza Furnace Trail. There has of late been a rash of broken windows and the MLK holiday happened to be my turn.

They broke my window and went through the change holder, grabbing maybe $3 in quarters and costing me over $200 to have the window replaced. They also hit the car parked right next to mine.

Coincidentally, perhaps, Mr. Depasquale made a circut of the lot when I was parking at 6 in the morning. You may recall that Mr. Depasquale owns the lot next door and was a bit pissed off that the city had taken a bit of his property to make this lot for trail users. He was so pissed that he started vandalizing cars in the lot until I caught him with a hidden camera.

Since then, I have seen him making a patrol, not of his own parking lot, but of the city parking lot. He will drive in, make a loop, and drive off, glaring at me the entire time. Why should he do that? What business of his is it to "patrol" the city lot?

Or, more accurately, my son's broken phone...

A disconsolate Pocklington batsman heads back to the Hudson's Lane pavilion after dismissal during a Foss Evening Cricket League First Division derby against Wolds neighbours North Dalton. The visitors, beaten by 10 wickets, didn't have too many reasons to be cheerful on the opening night of the 2016 season.

Only midweek matches are played on this ground, created in a farmer's field about 1960. The farmer is the club secretary. The 'pavilion' lacks facilities, including showers, which means North Dalton's first XI have to play their York & District Senior League home games at neighbouring Middleton-on-the-Wolds.

Match statistics: Pocklington 113-6 off 18 overs (Curtis Robb 29, Billy Higgins 26, George Baty 25no, Mark Brent 3-29) lost by 10 wickets to North Dalton 117-0 off 16 overs (Ricky Woodmansey 72no, Mark Clarkson 26no). Admission: free. Programme: none. Attendance 8.

BROKEN GLASS in BUSHWICK, BROOKLYN, NY, 2005

As we waited in line, Superman broke down, with riders hanging in the oh-so-comfortable position depicted here. I'm not sure what the man standing there is telling them, but fortunately, the ride started working again after about 15 minutes.

The XXII Triennale di Milano, Broken Nature: Design Takes on Human Survival, consists of a thematic exhibition and several installations from international participants. It will run from March 1 to September 1, 2019. With the XXII edition, La Triennale di Milano reaffirms its decision to continue the tradition of the International Exhibition, the twenty-first edition of which was held in 2016 after a twenty-year hiatus.

The exhibition that gives the event its name and theme is curated by Paola Antonelli with Ala Tannir, Laura Maeran, and Erica Petrillo. The international participations will be solicited via official governmental channels.

The thematic exhibition Broken Nature will consist of three major commissions as well as numerous loans. An ambitious public program of events––with conferences, panels, workshops, screenings, and performances––for people of all ages will also complement the XXII Triennale.
