The XXII Triennale di Milano, Broken Nature: Design Takes on Human Survival, consists of a thematic exhibition and several installations from international participants. It will run from March 1 to September 1, 2019. With the XXII edition, La Triennale di Milano reaffirms its decision to continue the tradition of the International Exhibition, the twenty-first edition of which was held in 2016 after a twenty-year hiatus.
The exhibition that gives the event its name and theme is curated by Paola Antonelli with Ala Tannir, Laura Maeran, and Erica Petrillo. The international participations will be solicited via official governmental channels.
The thematic exhibition Broken Nature will consist of three major commissions as well as numerous loans. An ambitious public program of events––with conferences, panels, workshops, screenings, and performances––for people of all ages will also complement the XXII Triennale.
St Augustine, Ramsgate, Kent
Sacristan having a crafty fag before Mass.
A superlative church by August Welby Pugin. Pugin had a special devotion to St Augustine, and when he became wealthy from the architectural commissions he had carried out, he bought a large house beside the sea at Ramsgate, close to the spot where St Augustine had landed on his mission to convert the heathen English. Here he built a house, the Grange, and beside it a church designed precisely to his vision, with no interference from patrons or dioceses.
The church was constructed between 1845-1852 according to Pugin's ‘true principles of Christian architecture’. He described it as ‘my own child’ and it was to be the place of his burial. Pugin wrote to the Earl of Shrewsbury, “My whole soul is devoted to building this church here”. He spared nothing in the construction using only the finest material and workmen. He wrote to his son Edward, ‘I am giving you the best architectural lessons I can; watch the church, there shall not be a single true principle broken’. Even before a parish was formed in Ramsgate the church provided mass for local Catholics, visitors and foreign sailors. In 1848 it was the venue for the first High Mass on Thanet since the Reformation.
In 2012 the church was declared the National Shrine of St Augustine in England by the Diocese of Southwark, in which it lies.
Made a road trip to my folks for Easter weekend... unpacked the little guy and his antenna was broken. He's clearly not too happy about it.
This is what the street looks like at the Intersection of San Filipe and Post Oak in Houston, This is located just north of the Galleria, a block or so east of the Haliburton building. San Filipe frequently looks like a trail of concrete shards.
**No phones were intentionally broken for this photo**
What do you do when you break your smartphone? Put it in your driveway, throw some water on it and take a picture of course! Only if your insurance won't cover the damage, that is. ;) I chose this phone as my subject for consumerism (anti-consumerism?) because after it broke I had to find one of my dumb-phones my daughter adopted and use it instead. And I discovered I don't NEED a smartphone. It's been kind of liberating (and 10 dollars cheaper a month without the data-plan.)
I tried to make the shot as contrasting as possible so I shot in black and white. I did crop it and increase the contrast just a touch in photoshop to get the effect I was going for.
We're getting wood floors installed and had to have the existing tile floor removed.
Decided to take some shots and play with some Lightroom presets. Ran the photo through the B&W Creative - Creamtone preset. I liked the effect.
Some jerk[s] broke my quarter panel out. Don't worry, this happened back in August, I just now got back around to the photos.
We asked the repairguy what he finds in broken escalators and he said with a distant stare:
"Shoes...always shoes. Mostly crocs and flipflops, all shredded."

This is the last of my quest for broken crow pieces in downtown Austin. They're about two more murals that I've shot, that probably wont get posted because of the shadows casting over them..
Unless you guys really insist.
ODC: Broken (for Our Daily Challenge Group2)
Sometimes broken household items become yard art for me. In this case it's a broken pottery corbel I crudely glued back together. It now sits among the bushes.
It's been a really full week trying to get back into my normal schedule now that hubby is three weeks out from his knee replacement. He's doing great! I have really missed photography and the group! I hope to be catching up with everyone.
Broken doll...
glass and broken porcelain eyes...

maybe you where looking for grandma's old stories or the rising of the wind...or maybe just looking for the fairy's wefted strings...
you are still the most beautiful creature that ever was whether it be winter or summer.

Today my bottom bracket spindle snapped while I was coming up to speed on Kedzie Blvd. Considering where I was and what happened, I got off pretty lightly with scraps and a bruised ass.
