In November 2012. My film 'Anticipation' won the 'Cool olympics Sino-UK' Competition, run by the British Council. My prize was an all expenses paid trip to China for a week. This was the most incredible, and I met some remarkable people.

Nearly half-way finished with the fireplace and taking much longer than I expected. I slid the electric heater inside today so we could get an idea of how it will look.
If/when this heater dies, we've made the space big enough to accept one of slightly larger dimensions.
These bricks have interesting marks on them, apparently from resting on other bricks in the kiln.
On my neighbors house in Toronto. Probably made at the Toronto Brick Works around 1910.
6 courses of stretchers between each header course. Approximately a Scottish Bond pattern.
I found this wagon wheel cemented in someone's brick wall, and I thought, "how strange it should be trapped in such an urban setting " Where has this travelled? Who's hands fashioned this? How long ago? What are it's stories? Hmmmmm.
Star bricks are some of the most commonly found locally, and there were several brickworks in the area. This one is from Newport. Found on Sunnybank Road, Griffithstown
