Some little toys which are replicates of the large water puppets of Hanoi, Viet Nam, sit at the end of the little brick wall behind my woodstove. There's some notes about the things on the wall.

A really special and unexpected find for me was this brick from Norbury Colliery which was situated between Hazel Grove and High Lane on what is now the A6. I have for 30+ years been seeking an example from this brickworks, which was located behind the Robin Hood pub on the north side of the main road from the colliery. The colliery and brickworks was operated by the firm of Clayton & Brooke from the 1830s until all was closed in 1892.
Took a pile of pictures at Brick Fiesta this year. Turnout was a bit disappointing compared to last year, but still had fun. I seemed to be damn near the only non-Texan at the con.
Kurt Beaty's excellent town. I think I neglected to take pictures of the Wataburger last year, so I made sure to shoot it this time.

These bricks have interesting marks on them, apparently from resting on other bricks in the kiln.

The Hathern Station Brick and Terra Cotta Company was established in 1874. The business flourished and 'Hathernware' and glazed 'faience' was exported worldwide during the first three decades of the twentieth century and many cinemas were faced and decorated with the products of this works. Although the company survived into the 1970's when restoration projects began to provide much needed business, takeover by Ibstock finally led to closure of the works in summer 2004.
At one time the company also produced blue bricks from the Cliff Brickworks at Kingsbury near Tamworth in Warwickshire. Cliff brickworks opened in 1870 and closed in 1969. This example of a brick paver survives outside the offices of the Hathern brickworks.
