PlunderCats are on the move, PlunderCats are loose! The PlunderCats are a band of ferocious feline pirates lead by the fearsome Captain Fluffybeard. Their ship is basically just a box with sails since the cats are usually more interested in the crate that the pirate ship parts arrive in than the actual ship itself. Their hideout is located in the middle of the Catribbean on Cat Skull Island (which used to be inhabited by Mouselanders) and is essentially a big cat tree. This is where they are keeping their enemy, the scurvy dog Admiral Barkington, hostage and where they are hiding their most prized treasure, the Golden Cheezburger. Plunder, plunder, PlunderCats yo-HO! Built for the piRATS and BUGaneers contest on BrickNerd.
Animation is my passion, so when BrickNerd announced that this would be the theme for this year's Nerdvember contest, I was thrilled! So I decided to make a tribute to one of the biggest icons in animation: PIXAR! But instead of simply building Nerdly as a Pixar character, I decided to go with something more unconventional: an animated recreation of the iconic Pixar logo animation - BrickNerd style! I took a digital stop motion approach to the animation process by building each frame in Bricklink Studio and rendering it. It took 141 unique frames and about a day of rendering to complete. I built 16 versions of Nerdly with different poses and expressions to bring BrickNerd's mascot to life using the squash and stretch principle that every animation student learns in their first class when they have to animate a bouncing ball or cube. You can also find the video on YouTube where you can watch it at a slower speed or even frame by frame to see how I used these different builds to make them move: youtu.be/1t7l315okOo

It's always tea time: LEGO® display at Tūranga, Saturday 11 January to Sunday 9 February
On display at Tūranga will be an outstanding LEGO build measuring over 1 metre high and nearly 2 metres wide. The model was created by Wendy Graham and Centuri Chan (of Knee Deep in Bricks) for the Christchurch Brick Show in July 2024. The project was inspired by ‘A Mad Tea-Party’ perhaps one of the most memorable chapters from Lewis Caroll’s 1865 children’s book ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’. It took approximately 300 hours to build and is made from an estimated 82,000 LEGO® bricks!

This is part of a LEGO magnetic resonance imaging playset with an open MRI system, a control room, and a waiting room.
Open MRI scanners are esp. suitable for claustrophobic patients, children, and obese people who cannot be accomodated in the standard tunnel type MRI.
The waiting room (shown) is equipped with a small toy scanner and two boxes of stuffed animals. Children can pass their time waiting for their scan while pretend playing with these toys.
I built a midi-scale Stinger Mantis for the 'Imperial March'-contest on BrickNerd.
One of my favourite ships in the galaxy!
It also has a play feature: the wings are movable - either together in flight configuration or separately for landing.
Very swooshable!!
I’m pretty proud of how the core is built, with a 1x1 plate sandwiched between two neck brackets.
Built for the #bricknerd #imperialmarch25
While the Nerdly family is having dinner, Father Nerdly zooms out with his thoughts and remembers all the good animated movies he watched - and the train of thoughts takes off (and yes, the monorail runs). #Nerdvember2024 #BrickNerd #Nerdly

Look for this amazing masterpiece on Hapori | Community, Level 1. It can be viewed during library hours from Saturday 11 January to Sunday 9 February 2025.
