For those of you who have followed me of late would've noticed I've begun to put up my working shots for the current challenge on the week ahead's Macro Mondays. Now for those of you just flick(r)ing through you may not see any difference, and of course the theme and shot is very much alike. What I have a tendency to do is just alter a focal point, or indeed, add an additional focal point to draw the eye. You the viewer, as of course I do, will like some better than others (hopefully at least one?). I have left the identifications as shown by way of means to illustrate how I photographed them and then slightly altered various points ... thank you for taking the time to view my work, I am always very grateful.
Masala Chai
Black Tea, ground cloves, green cardamon pods, star anise, cinnamon, black pepper corns, ginger, honey
My more basic recipe omits the ginger and star anise. That is how I used to make it years ago. Oh, and of course with a splash of (almond) milk.
For this weeks Macro Mondays the theme is: Brew.

Macro Mondays - Brew
My wife found some bulk teas at the YWAM base where we are volunteering. When I was struggling with what to do for this theme, she suggested that I take a look at the Raspberry Cream Pie Rooibos Tea imported by DAVIDs TEA in Montreal Quebec Canada. She even offered to pour some onto the lid of the canister, so I could have some reflections.
Ingredients: Green rooibos, cane sugar, white chocolate chips, pink sugar mix, blackberry, raspberry, gomphrena petals, hibiscus, strawberry leaf, natural and artificial flavouring. HMM
The Afrikaans name Drakensberg comes from the name the earliest Dutch settlers to the region gave it. They called them the Drakensbergen, or "Mountains of Dragons". Several possible reasons for this name include the pointy tops giving an appearance similar to that of the back of the mythical European dragon, old local myths of dragons roaming the mountains, and possible findings of dinosaur fossils (which would have been confused with the remains of dragons).

Three craft beers with my calzone for my birthday lunch
I've been wanting to try this place for a long time. The beer was good. The one in back seemed kind of ordinary. The one in front on the left they called a premium and it really was. The darker one on the right was my favorite. It had a distinctive Clove taste and was really enjoyable.
In 1990, archaeologists unearthed the royal brewery of the ancient Egyptian Queen Nefertiti. There, amid the ten brewing chambers, traces of ancient beer residue were discovered and subsequently made into ‘Tutankhamun ale’ – named after the Pharoah and Nefertiti’s supposed stepson. For a while, this became of one of the most expensive beers in the world. Inspired by the discovery, and being a craft beer lover, I set out to produce a photo for an imaginary brewery logo.
Ever since I saw Gail Johnson's picture of a massive wave slamming the side of a lighthouse in the 2008 LPOTY I've been looking to shoot something similar. No point rushing into these things! I wanted to wait though, until conditions were just right, Newhaven isn't exactly around the corner for me, but with hurricane force winds predicted overnight I don't think conditions could've been any better than today. Thankfully I didn't have anything else planned so made the (rather tedious) journey to the coast. It was well worth it, I don't think I've ever seen such powerful waves, quite breathtaking. But then I do live in Surrey.

Grey clouds almost completely covered the skies pre dawn this morning, but I headed to one of my favourite beaches just incase Mother nature performed at sunrise, strong northerly winds whipped the beach and distant rumbles of thunder echoed around me, spotting rain, the skies did light with contrasts over the jetty... if you look closely there is also a small lightning strike where the stone wall meet the jetty.... Hudson was safely waiting in the car.
Macro Mondays-Brew
I've been drinking Rooibos Tea for over 10 years. It really is a good alternative to black tea. Today I made it in my Teavana Tea Pot. It's such a neat little gadget. You brew the tea in the pot then you put it on top of your cup and the brewed tea goes down the bottom of the pot into your cup!
