Every year I tell myself that this is too much work for what its worth. Then I smell the sweetgrass wafting in the summer breeze and I can't resist...the spell has been cast.
This is really cool. I was kind of looking for a way to do a square twist with a hole in the middle. So when I saw Melisande*'s and Origomi's triangle twists with holes in the middle. I thought, why can't I do that with a square? I am very excited that it worked.
i couldnt help myself.
this is my little sister, i could never take a picture of myself with braids and have it be successful. something about positioning the camera/tripod and focusing it right... im incapable. :)
and i actually got a picture of a braid AND uploaded it on a wednesday. holy cow. i dont know how that happened! :)
Boston Braid by Martha Ooten from the book French Braid Obsession made with Phillips Jacobs and Fairy Frost fabrics. Isn't it wonderful and it glows! The author of the book is Jane Hardy Miller through C and T Publishing. There is no class scheduled but ask for one if you are interested.
This scarf was so, so, so fun to knit. The yarn was lovely to work with and I think it was the perfect yarn for this project (even though I used it as a substitution--the pattern called for Rowan Felted Tweed). The color I chose reminds me of wheat...outdoors...nature...
I altered some things significantly--see here for the scarf in the book. I made mine a solid color, as I was going for a classier, simplistic, and less kiddish look. I also omitted the fringe, as I thought the scarf would be beautiful without it. I'm very pleased with the results.

The Yulia Tymoshenko look. Bobby pins. My favorite yoga hairstyle, unless you're going to be standing on the top of your head.
