Close up of the braided cast on. This is done by doubling the two colors of yarn, and then alternating which strand is cast on using the long-tail method. After each cast on stitch, the strands are crossed each time. A little fiddly, but very stretchy and the effect is kind of cool.

Braid European tour 1998

Day two of the Berg Lake backpacking trip left the peaceful Kinney Lake and headed north through the Valley of a Thousand Falls, Emperor Falls and ended at the shores of Berg Lake. Photo taken in Mt. Robson Provincial Park, British Columbia, Canada.

Here I am braiding the girls' hair in the Kurdish village. They had a lot of lice, but it was still fun!!!

WIP - Two different versions of the same basic pattern; reversable braided cable scarves using sportweight baby pink acrylic yarn. The scarf on the left is a 12-row braided cable repeat, and the scarf on the right is using an 8-row braided cable repeat. Both scarves are still UFO's.
