Braids performing at the Constellations Festival, Leeds, on Saturday the 12th of November 2011

made these last week. The top is a square braid made with DMC embroidery floss and the bottom is a hollow braid out of Pearl 5 Cotton and satin ribbon.

Na falta do que fazer, fiz uma trança meia boca. Detalhe, nunca faço tranças no cabelo.

This is what happens when idle hands meet a longish beard and a little experience at braiding ...

The braids are staying in place without my having to wrap the ends.

Wig making exercise for crochet Bleuette. These four wigs are all made from mohair yarn, and are quite simple. By using a yarn with a high mohair content, you let the yarn do most of the work!

This is a simple braid and bangs wig. The cap fits snug, and is not sewn down. This way, Bleuette can change her hair with her outfit :-)

Denali National Park is full of braided rivers - and when I was there they were running very low. The brown water isn't exactly photogenic, but here I thought it was a nice leading line.

Do you think this braid looks like show quality? should I keep on braiding?

Another attempt at the Waterfall Braid.

First comes the picking; about 2 hours. Then the sorting; another 3 hours. Then the fun part; the braiding; about 3 hours. I braid it fresh to get the tight braids.

okay, so technically, it's more of a knot than a braid.

no editing, my hair braid

I tried out the Katniss-style braid from The Hunger Games on my friend Sarah. It turned out really well!

I tie-dyed that top myself.

my favourite hair style of late - Heidi braids

the best braid i have ever done. its on my friends head, though, not mine

Staff of Austin Braid`s Garage, Deganwy, North Wales 1947-48.

Does anyone recognise any of the people in the photograph? The two men standing on the back row to the right hand side are known. Do you know where the garage was in Deganwy? ( Was it were Qwik Saves used to be?) Is it part of the same garage that still exists in Mochdre?

A look at the crane that will lift ten 100 ton girders for the new 12th Street Bridge.

I bought a HUGE cone of teal cotton from Cancer Research Wales a while back, and 3 very time-consuming dishcloths later (with hardly a dent in the cone must I add), I had put it away in the cupboard and didn't want to look at it again! When my sister came to visit she brought along some of her yarn, and I 'inherited' a few balls of dark brown soft cotton... I loved the contrast between the two colours so I decided to knit them both together for these booties.

Paper: Strathmore Petal Inclusion Paper

A 19" square makes a 6 3/4" square model! I really want to make a much larger one but it will be hard to find a really big piece of paper - I think maybe 40 inches square will make about a 14-inch model ?

Vision statement

"My images of people engage the heart and celebrate life."

In this simple portrait, I caught my daughter, Hannah, braiding her hair next to a north-facing window.

Mission statement

My life is about connecting and experiencing others. So photography for me has always been about capturing those connections. To me portrait photography expresses a vision of the subject and the relationship between the subject

Wednesday morning, Emily decided to braid Chris's hair. It became a morning tradition, and he went to worksites with some neat hairstyles. (He had forgotten his conditioner, so it was a bit knotty until he picked up some conditioner at Gigante.)

These are hair designs by Katje Sabin, Kansas City, MO. Please contact mamagotcha at gee mail dot com if you are interested in hiring Katje to braid or teach.
